Darktide should have it's own Quiet Drink

I don’t know if DT has done things for their anniversaries; all two of them; but I think an event celebrating the game’s life would be nice. I don’t exactly know how they’d do it as Rannick wouldn’t authorize a pub crawl on the planet currently infested with Chaos but I’m sure FS can think of something.

Maybe it’d be us playing through Morrow’s drunken recollection of Armageddon while we drink amnesec by the gallon, the victor screen showing us passed out on the floor as Zola shakes her head.

They’ve done updates (Traitor Curse, Grim Protocol), not events yet.

I don’t think Rannick would have to authorise it. Could have it hinge on the Rejects being sent by Hallowette and Melk, or Swagger and Hadron, maybe in Carnival, as we go through a brewery anyway.

Maybe having the Vocator also drink. If it’s set around the anniversary (End of November) they could theme it around the Sanguinala or Candelmas (40k Christmas celebrations)

Correct me, but Rannick may not be still in charge of the operation?
I was under the impression that the Adeptus Arbites took the lead…

I don’t think Arbitres will allow such “fiesta” while Tertium is so close to have to be purged.

I think the introduction of the Arbites is similar in ways to how Commissar Dukane and the 53rd.

They’re not taking over the whole operation, but they’re giving undemanded pointers and largely being annoyances.

The only thing that could be strange would be drunk mission when there are Arbites (but that’s already a strange thing when you’re playing the Ascender mission to liberate the Crystal for Hallowette to later sell

Weren’t there also festive looking cosmetics for Sanguinala but no event for it for the last two years?

It’s worth remembering that a quiet drink only really works half as well as it does because the characters in that game have, well, actual character as well as established relationships and chemistry.

Seeing the usually very serious Saltzpyre talk excitedly about being a steam tank driver is great because of the contrast it provides.

How do you do something with even 1/10 the charm in Darktide with our player created characters?

I mean don’t get me wrong, anniversary maps generally are a fun idea, I just think they’d have to take a radically different approach to making that work in Darktide.

I do admit that the wealth of dialogue from the VT1-2/U5 is different from the one that the DT/Reject have, but it certainly doesn’t mean that it can’t be made to work though.

FS, Ward, and the VA have done quite a stellar job, when taking into account the matter of personality duplicates, and the excessive number of voice lines.

They’ve gotten a little better but there are still a lot of generic conversations that are clearly just grabbing from a response pool and have little if any conversational flow as a result. Character says what about NPC X or location Y and then a bunch of characters say Marvel lines about said NPC being prickly or the location being heresy/about to be heresy’d/totally heresy’d beyond all repair.

Dialogues with contextual responses depend 100% on the personalities present, which should be expanded a lot more. I like hearing these but they’re pretty rare and in the current game pacing (in interesting Darktide) you’re often overriding conversation with game contextual lines. For the first time since launch despite playing Veteran near constantly since June to get to 1000 I finally almost heard a convo with an Arbites I hadn’t heard. He was asking me what kark meant…and then I called out a poxburster and the conversation ended.

Let’s start to have more new permanent maps before asking for limited time one, don’t we think ?

We are still to 3 maps in Vermintide 2 (includind the event) versus 0 in Darktide this year (no i don’t count Mortis small arenas).

Don’t get me wrong i don’t dislike the idea, i just don’t think it must be a priority right now.

Also if you want to be drunk ingame we can start small with a bar in the Mourning Star, a bit like the Red Moon inn in the first Vermintide. We know there is one onboard with the cutscenes and should be a good way to drink, relax, have a fist fight and have some small ordo dockets minigames with some 40k poker or else.

I disagree on both points, adding event maps would make the game more fresh, and with them returning every year, they remain fresher for longer.

And Mortis ought to be counted imo, like they’re not big maps yes, but they’re introducing new stuff still.

New maps are still neutered by the absolutely atrocious mission select system anyway. Why make new content that you can’t play 60% of the time?
