Darktide Performance, Visibility, and Suggestions Needed Please!

My first level (after the tutorial) I had issues seeing enemies unless they were right in front of me. Unsure if this is just the way the game is, or if it’s just my settings being on low. I was getting FPS drops down into the 30s, all while on the lowest settings unless I was missing something I didn’t see that I should of turned off. I refunded the game before realizing that I forgot to update the drivers for Darktide, so I’m unsure how much of a difference this would of made and unsure if I would even be able to refund again even if I did buy to try it.

These are my PC specs currently (At least I think what matters the most, let me know if there is something else I should have mentioned):

  • NVidia GeForce GTX 1070
  • 16.0 GB RAM
  • Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs) 4.00 GHz
  • Using 1920x1080

Should I try buying it again after the driver update I just did? Wait until it is better optimized? Or perhaps just wait until I get a better PC to run it on? Thanks in advance for all suggestions and replies!

The enemies being hard to spot is a common theme among several of my friends, and extremely so in my case. The environmental effects make the visual distinctiveness of mobs somewhat muddy and blend into the background. Lowering some of your video settings to low might reduce that and make it easier to see, but I can say that even with better hardware (Ryzen 5800, Nvidia 3070, 32GB) I was having a lot of difficulty spotting the callouts, directions and mobs.

I mean you barely meet minimum requirements for the game. And by your description you even getting expected FPS they had in their chart. So its kinda your fault not reading HW requirements for the game.

and if you have time go read the article about performance from devs which is where the table is from Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Steam News Hub
