Darktide Is Gambling

In those games usually they’re another separate tier of rarity with unique effects or are a unique item, here we’re grinding the same insane timelines for an incremental upgrade on something we already have. It’s boring and unrewarding, how rare will reds be if max stats oranges are like hens teeth?

Would like to know what you want to hear from them. Every time Hedge posted something it got turned into something evil, so hard that someone here made a thread about it.

They clearly still focus on performance meanwhile finishing the crafting system a lot are waiting for, before starting with major tweaks or changes.

Imagine they would show up like “Yeah we heard you, but we´ve no idea right now and if we´ve some, maybe 2024…” How high are the odds for a shitstorm?

The priorities are obvious.

Yeah please write more nonsense.

It´s actually pretty sad that you still don´t get that i don´t defend FS. I just want this game to succeed and take care for another perspectives you guys here clearly ignore, because “your opinion is absolute”.

Do you want this game to succeed? Doesn´t seems like it with all the shitstorm.
It´s deserved for releasing an unfinished product, but not because they´ve a different system. You guys exeggerate a lot, can´t imagine others like one or another thing and on top some even try to hold potential buyers back even if they´ve already 200h in the game within 2 weeks.

Said it already some days ago. The game won´t last long with all the bashing from all sides about “everything someone dislikes” or “because it´s not Vermintide”. And that you don´t care about others but ppl who “tend to agree with you”, is obvious.
You can´t even have a normal conversation, showing up with ideas or whatever. Just bashing and trolling, even going personal obviously.
Better stop being short-sighted, helps a lot in RL.

Hedge acknowledged that the designers already knew the system has worse odds than a lottery. Fatshark keep justifying poor choices with their mystical ‘design intent’, CMs have said they’ll try and let us know what that is. I’d like to hear them address that their systems are designed to simply eat up our time with little reward and for them to not skirt how awful the launch was by immediately talking about how good the future will be. Fatshark have made quite a few missteps and have acknowledged very little, for instance even recently stealth removing one of the new conditions from the last patch notes and not including it in the change log.

I know about the most stuff, but again, what do you expect? If they´ve no clear idea or something, the shitstorm will be real.
Also after such a bad release it´s mostly the best to stay silent and focus on fixing the game instead of filling your head while reading all the flame across the boards.

Just look at No Mans Sky… they did it. One of the biggest shitstorms in games history and a couple of months later a lot of poeple fall in love with them.
It´s always the same. Players going emotional like the game is the end of the world, blame it for everything and ones a patch appears it´s like “Yes, we´ve waited for this, you´re so awesome, we love you!” Bla bla…

It´s the players not seeing that stuff needs time, that there are priorities, that games are way more complex than years ago and of course, everything which might have been said at some day is suddenly “a promise”. Plans can and will always change. There is a lot of pressure on gamedevs poeple either don´t know or clearly forget and the most comes from the player-side.

The main problem with the shop is that it’s currently totally removed from actually playing the game. Otherwise, the shop does provide a good selection of items if you constantly keep buying the offered stuff. Even the “new item” problem can be circumvented by a “new weapon always on offer” modifier or something.

If the shop would have been implemented with a daily reset and a reset on mission complete with bonus offers on side mission/mutator completion the player perception would have been pretty different while also keeping the anti “progress siloing” aspect (which I don’t really think is a bad thing since you can silo some other progress like crafting materials).

People who wanted something like WoM upgrade system would have still written posts about it, but the general outrage would have been way smaller.

I find this a good thing. We can agree to disagree.

They might be wholely different than you think. They might have insane differences in base stat (yeah it has 100% damage but 0% ammo etc). They might just implement a new crafting feature where you can increase the base stats randomly boosting the weapon even over 80% (+20% to 1 stat, +15% to 2, +10% to 3, etc). There are a lot of options, that aren’t just “there will be a better tier of gear now the previous arsenal doesn’t matter at all”.

I put this in the category of previous grievances that increase outrage over current stuff. It’s just another wound to those who like you want to get rid of any RNG and just get the top stuff (I don’t mean to be derogatory, I see the arguments behind it).

The current refining system does give the player some control while also keeping the spirit of the ‘should be rare treat’. Now the click for 10 minutes to get the exact stuff you want on the other hand is just insane.

Why is this a good thing for darktide? The ‘top’ weapons are only a minor incremental increase versus non-top gear. 5% extra ammo isn’t a prize worth grinding 100s of hours for, hell 5% extra damage that passes a breakpoint isnt even worth it. I’m all for ultra rare cosmetics or achievements, but don’t put stat altering mechanics behind a long term grind.

I’m a player that’s not afraid of grinding. If I deem it worthwhile, I’ll spend far too long achieving something mundane. I knocked one of the fallout 76 seasons out a month early, simply because I felt like my time was being rewarded. I did all of the pistol camo challenges on advanced warfare back in the day just to get some fancy gloves. Darktides grind does not feel like it rewards my time.

This is why i stopped playing, I can either have fun OR I can progress my characters gear but they are so exclusive its jarring and just not worth the effort when I can play Diablo 2 and have more fun in a game almost as old as I am.

No you do not. 24 refreshes a day only means you have twelve times 0.0001% chance of finding the weapon you want. Gotta check every hour on every character of course. Forget it if you want it to have good stats and perks you want. Add Blessings and rarities? You can wait for 50 years.

It’s ludicrous that you’re still defending the shop after we’ve figured out the odds.

Also:
You call sitting around a digital store, hoping that it throws you a bone, time investment? Time investment?!?

I was thinking more about 330 rating vs 360 rating, and the exponential curve in itself is a good thing in any loot-based game. Top items are generally designed categories harder to attain than middling items. Even VT2 had it. Even with crafting getting your first red or max rolled yellow took way more time than getting your first yellow, or first good yellow.

Anyway, I try to take your argument in good faith and reply to what you actually wrote, but I’m pretty baffled that you don’t know about people who care or people who are motivated by just a few more (pretty meaningless) stat points. If you don’t think it matters then +5% doesn’t affect you, plain and simple.

If you are interested you can look into it more, I’m sure there is some info out from game devs on the loot you can look into. It’s no mistake that even the top, rarest, most aspirational uniques in top loot-based games have variable stats (and sometimes even another layer like corruption in poe, or ethereal in D2).

I’ve played a lot of different games with different types and rates of loot over the years. I just dont think gating stats and mechanics behind ridiculous RNG is good for a coop shooter. I don’t think it should take any longer to get max stat oranges than it did in VT2.

you guys wondering when they going to fix how you get gear?
Guys, im pretty sure fatshark doesn’t have time to worry about that when a large amount of people trying to play the game are having so many crashes… Like this game is straight up broken and has some serious issues. I love the core gameplay, i love the style of the maps, but in like 8 games i think ive crashed once each game.
I was able to reconnect but holy balls how can any mp game survive when the game isnt even functional. Stability on this game is hot garbage on a technical/polish side of things. Worst optimization I think ive seen for a game… ever… way worse than cyberpunks launch… no wonder fatshark delayed the console launch.

All the hooplah over rng items and lack of content bla blah blahh this game doesnt even RUN properly.

This is a feedback forum, all threads don’t have to be devoted to burning issues. Also the bigger issue at hand here is the how they fix gear, not the when.

Hard agree, game seems fine to me.

I don’t get it. Are you talking about the armory? Then just don’t click on the button :man_shrugging:
If you’re talking about whenever you get a weapon, it’s RNG for the stats, then don’t play a huge proportion of modern day games that satisfies an itch for plenty of others.
If you’re talking about the cosmetic store, then just control yourself.

How do people like you even exist?

What kind of person gives the “just leave” solution to all kinds of problems, when the obviously reasonable solution would be, to fix the problem instead?

You like the gameplay, but do not like the RNG in item acquisition (like 90%+ of the players)?
Just do not engage with it.
Just play a different game.
Just go outside.

Does your wife sometimes say something that annoys you?
Naah dude. Don’t talk to her about it.
Just don’t interact with her.
Just leave her.

Well thanks for the great advice. I am sure that will make the game better and more successful.

Leave him to his satisfying itches. Obviously when a game goes from 100k players to 5k in a month its because the game was too itchy for some non hardcore gamers. Real pros grind with no respect to their time and are damn grateful for the opportunity to convert their worthless experience being awake into anything.

You all can leave, I don’t care
What do you mean servers shutdown?

Doesn‘t matter if servers shut down.
Just play a different game.

While this was a super old post that got necro-d, that was before Brunt and the loot changes where player input had close to 0 input on item acquisition…

I’m sorry @Flawless, but that’s one of the most dishonest take on just leave I’ve read on this forum so far.

I played Tera, and loved the gameplay, but I left because the over-the-top anime aesthetic was just too much for me after a while.

Yeah, the loot system still needs changes (curio acquisition khm…), but if you are looking for a game with 100h gear progression just leave, or temper your expectations.

Does the girl you like, who is beautiful and has a great personality have a voice you personally find annoying? Yeah, either leave or get used to it.

Obviously, the crashes, bad performance, blessing not working, terrible balance, class talents not working, missing re-bless, innumerable other bugs, only minimal content update since release, and general silence of the development team for a while had no impact on it.
