Daemonhost Recommendation

Context

So, I’ve ran into a few Daemonhosts now, and I want to say, firstly, holy sh*t, this fragger’s design is great! He sounds menacing, he is floating and is an absolute menace. The neck snapping move it does is really brutal too!

However, I feel like if it targets you then there is literally no way to prevent getting killed by it. First, it has an attack sequence that seemingly just repeats, it just keeps wailing on you until you cease living. Then it goes into an execution animation that CANNOT be disrupted.

This would not be as irritating if it wasn’t for the fact that this thing is often found in areas with loads of other enemies, which already force you to split your attention, then it also has a huge HP pool, or at least a large amount of resistance if it isn’t a massive HP pool.

And it just keeps going, I just watched it kill 2 of my party, then the survivors were overwhelmed by all the mobs we couldn’t kill while we were chased by the Daemon version of a Flayed One.

Actual Recommendation part

  • Make it possible to interrupt the execution: Perhaps using a bigger weapon attack. Like a charged heavy with a primed Thunder Hammer. Or a charged psychic power. Or a headshot from the Veteran’s ability. Something reasonably heavy hitting. It’d at least give the group a chance to stop someone from dying without completely eliminating the Mini(?) Boss’ signature move.

  • Slightly lower its damage resist / HP currently it’s just terrifyingly tanky. I dare say, I’d rather face two beasts of Nurgle or Plague Ogryns than a single one of these guys with just how much damage they can tank -and- dish out at the same time.

  • If it’s meant to be an avoidable obstacle, it may need to have its spawn locations tweaked a bit because two out of the five times I’ve ran into them so far were in choke points towards progress, surrounded by enemies that made accidentally triggering the Daemonhost almost guaranteed.
