I have had this problem consistently since before expeditions, months this has been going on now, maybe a year. The game crashes every time I try to play it. No matter what Iām doing, which class, map, the Mourningstar, it just crashes if Iām doing anything, or standing still. It crashes straight to desktop, almost every single time. very rarely it will give me an error code, but theyāre random ones, never the same each time, but when it does itās a backend error. I have played since the beta, and had problems along the way, but most of the time they just kind of sort themselves out, they sort of stop being a problem after a while. Iāve 2.5K hours in the game, and during that time Iāve tried everything to fix it. This has gotten to the stage that I can barely play. It will crash when Iām on the Mourningstar sorting my loadout, then shortly after the game starts, then 2-4 times during the game, then just after the game ends, then shortly after Iām back onboard. Every single time, without fail, straight to desktop. I donāt know what to do cos itās not like thereās anything to recreate, other than having my setup, which used to be fine. Is it just an AMD thing? Do other people have it this bad? Iām gonna go punch a wall and scream into a pillow now. Thanks.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Crashes to desktop regardless of class, map/Mourningstar, actions/inactionā¦I donāt know what to tell you or what to do
donāt know about amd specific issues, but nvlddmkm.sys error is a consistent thing on the nvidia front, with various ānewerā drivers giving players issues until they DDU for the one old one down the line thatās been the last āstableā
space marine 2 for example has issues with kernel access until it crashes sometimes for windows refuses it access for some reason, the issue above seems gpu driver related.
amd itself seems to be more error ridden considering darktide as a game, things like PSU failings, cpu voltage and timing has a part in it too sometimes, as does RAM rarely.
Otherwise, itās a shot in the dark, but perhaps switching to our Experimental Build may help. This build version includes small tweaks that we test, which can help generally with stability and performance - which I hope youāll have a more positive time using.
To do so:
Open the Steam client
Right-click Darktide in your Steam library
Select āPropertiesā
Select āBetasā
Enter the password cTYPtKTsfMDsLHAV
Select āCheck Codeā
Select the āNoneā dropdown, and experimental - Experimental Builds should now be within the list
Thank you so much. I managed to switch to the experimental build and it has made an enormous difference. Itās a little bit jank, some stuttering, lag, frame drops, a few disconnections, but nothing severe. Itās about 10% of what it was! Iāve managed to play several missions without disconnecting or crashing, which hasnāt happened in such a long time. I genuinely appreciate your efforts, thank you.
On a side note, please let the team know that this is by far my favourite game, ever. Iāve been playing games for 35 years, theyāre a huge party of my life. This is my favourite.
Thatās great Iām glad to hear that the Expermenta Build has improved your experience. Hopefully with future tweaks we can get things to an even better spot!
Appreciate the kind words - happy heretic purging!
