Crashing at title screen

Issue Type (Required):

Crash - After Building Shader Cache

Issue Description (Required):

Just bought the game and all dlc for my little brother to play with me he was super excited to play as Skitarii. His favorite faction is mechanicus.

We encountered this error on his system

I had read about problems with amd gpus but didn’t think he wouldn’t be able to the play the game.
His system specs are as follows
7800 xt
7800x3d
64gs dd5
m.2 2 tb
windows 11

I tried rolling him back to the previous driver but the framerate is erratic and unplayable micro stuttering every 2 seconds.

Any ETA on a fix?

Tried all the suggested fixes on my brothers system still didn’t work

Bios updated drivers rolled back 3 times to 3 previous versions.

Verified integrity of game files

Reinstalled twice

Still not able to get past the title screen when you hit space.

Very disappointed after spending all the money on the base game and dlcs for him.

Same issue here, I think it’s a game issue and no longer player side issue.

Yea I am out of options for him at this point.

Hopefully the fix is quick but I haven’t seen any updates.

If you use amd, revert everything back to 26.2.1
That fixed it for me.

Tried that earlier didn’t work for my brothers system.

Even rolled back two previous driver versions before that and no luck.

Thank you for the suggestion, thix fixed it for me too. I hope they come with a proper solution soon but for now this will work.

@Eisenheim I’m sorry about the issue man, idk how you rolled back but for AMD it’s the best option to remove and download and re-install the older version. If you did that and it didn’t work, sorry. I hope Fatshark fixes things on their end soon.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble @Eisenheim

As mentioned above, can you try uninstalling your current AMD drivers with a dedicated driver removal tool e.g. DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and then freshly reinstalling AMD driver version 26.6.1

Please let me know how this goes.

We used ddu first and then used amd driver clean up tool when that didn’t work. We were able to get past the title screen on one of the previous drivers but the stuttering was so bad we couldn’t play.

I appreciate the responses and help offered.

I am out of ideas at this point so I think we will wait to play when a fix comes out sadly.

@Eisenheim appreciate the update! Sorry to hear that performance was an issue with an older driver version.

Something that could also help is to try switching to our Experimental Build.

This Darktide build version includes subtle changes that we trial, some of which focus on stability and performance - so I’m hoping that you may have a more positive experience using it.

To do so:

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Right-click Darktide in your Steam library
  3. Select ‘Properties’
  4. Select ‘Betas’
  5. Enter the password cTYPtKTsfMDsLHAV
  6. Select ‘Check Code’
  7. Select the ‘None’ dropdown, and experimental - Experimental Builds should now be within the list
  8. Select experimental - Experimental Builds
  9. Close the pop-up window
  10. A download should now start

Please let me know if you find any improvement.

Thanks for the response I saw that suggestion in another thread yesterday and we tried that.

I had him play for about 2 hours on the experimental and was hoping he was just building the shader cache but it never improved.

Ah okay :frowning: unfortunate that the Experimental Build also hasn’t helped.

Hmm, shot in the dark now, but perhaps it’s worth trying the following:

  • After having rolled back to AMD driver version 26.6.1
  • Then, perform a ‘Selective Startup’ to ensure that no background applications are conflicting (perhaps causing stuttering):
  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC

I’m scraping the barrel, but hopefully something here may just do the trick! :crossed_fingers:

I will try those later when I get off work thanks for the suggestions much appreciated.

Okay I tried the suggested fixes and it didn’t work.

I guess we just wait for the fix.

Thanks for all the responses and help.

I really hope this is top priority there seems to be a ton of people suffering the same issue.
