This has been an issue in the game even before Havoc has been introduced. You can enter a new area and its just full of elite gunners and trash shooters. We don’t play Tide games for the subpar shooting experience.
In some areas it is extremely tedious to move forward. I doubt people play play Tide games to camp corners and pick off individuals gunners. All whilst dealing with AI wallhacks and “suppression” mechanic. Especially in Havoc where someone had a “brilliant” idea of applying debuff to player toughness and all those damage breakpoint breaking enemy buffs.
Yeah, I was thinking about that also. It’s almost like you run into melee elites or ranged elites packs only. Hardly ever a mix. I have no idea how the AI director manages the spawns, but it feels this is decided at the start of the game? Very weird and flawed system.
Funny enough, slog is also a word which a gaming buddy of mine used to describe some of those difficulty combos like extra mob DR + heal. This probably deserves its own topic. Those extra difficulty modifiers destroy damage breakpoints, make a lot of average weapons, below average, and generally destroy build / playstyle variety.
