Yes, another havoc thread.
Current issues for Havoc-Enjoyers:
- They want to keep playing a certain difficulty over and over (i.e. 40, 35, 38 etc. etc.)
- They absolutely hate the deranking mechanic that forbids them
- Current changes to the map seeds (one seed throughout the run) can make the difference between a casual stroll in the park (H40 with shotgunner seed) and pure progression halting suffering (gunner only seed with just reapers and scab gunners)
- They most likely have massive amounts of ressources and nowhere to spend them
Conclusion: If you have bad luck on your map roll, that’s more or less an instant strike. If you get unlucky twice in a row and maybe error coded, that’s a demotion.
→ People get frustrated and want to stop playing.
Solution:
Give havoc-enjoyers a ressource sink that allows them to replay/reroll a difficulty, whilst removing deranking. This solves the issue of currency that is essentially useless and also forces people to keep playing to play more.
An example could be like this:
- Reach new Assignment rank, say 38
- Option to ‘unlock’ that rank for X amount of plasteel, diamantine and dockets. Make it a massive number so it requires effort/grind
- You can now freely select this rank.
- Incentive to farm currency to unlock every rank
- Option to replay your unlocked ranks however many times you want
- Weekly rewards still tied to highest rank completed.
This is much less toxic than the current deranking system and gets rid of party finder elitism/toxicity. I don’t care about losing a thousand plasteel or diamantine for a lost run with pubs if I can enjoy the same difficulty again, or simply reroll for different modifiers/seeds.
