Content Drop - Rejects Unite + Patch #10

They aren’t saying anything because by being silent they can continue to string people along. They have no intention of fixing this system, because at this point if they did intend to fix it, there are all the reasons in the world to speak up about it and tell the community they are doing something about. But they have no intention of doing anything, and not saying anything keeps more people engaged and hoping and maybe even playing a little to help keep their numbers up. If they just said “we have no further plans to change crafting” there would be a lot of people that would just leave immediately.

Yea all hope is lost at this point, no communication and no action against locks despite the community shoving it in their faces… at this point we need a dev to explain why they are so ignorant on the community feedback

I like how the ink reward info specifics are in Chinese

according to google translate

纳垢兽 apparently means “nurgle”
瘟疫欧格林 means “plague ogryn”
混沌魔物 means “chaos monster”
恶魔宿主 means “demon host”

I need to gobsmack you with a collage of cursed ‘god rolls’ then. I have easily like 30+ weapons fitting the bill, since I don’t even bother rerolling anything if its stuck with T1/T2. It can easily happen. The game seems to detect when I find an 80/80/80/80/60 in an actual burner stat, viewer discretion is advised…

I think I made the most Mk4 Cleavers of all in my quest to square peg that terrible weapon, and not one is T4/T4 in blessings. Such craft experience wow. Must not have been pressing ‘consecrate’ while holding my mouse upside down and reciting the Big Fish oath.

So a remake of an existing map and a copypasted asset from VT2? Good job Fatshark! Very exciting! Dev time well spent!

Why is it that after every patch the performance of the game takes such a dip, plus there seems to be input lag now??? It happened last patch and it happened this patch. It like taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back, its just that is this patch you took maybe 1/2 a step forward at best and an entire step back. Do you guys test anything before releasing or has most of the dev team been folded into another project and your guys barely have a skeleton of a team left? Honestly is this is gonna be the case from now on, I don think there’s any point logging into this game even after patch day. Cos 1, there’s not much content in the and 2 performance is gonna be bad anyway… This game came out in November and basic things like performance is still and issue…

As if he will gain 200+kg weight

Blockquote I for one hate stat rolls. When some stats are mandatory to have at a higher level (penetration, ammo, damage on certain weapons etc.) it makes getting a low roll on one of them frustrating and bricks a high rating weapon. The problem is that 380 weapons DO exist in the game and are obtainable, not through end game skilled content but just by rolling Brunts. So every time you get a weapon below that, you’re going to be subconsciously comparing it to what it COULD be if you got lucky.

What do you mean by “mandatory”? I can’t speak for damnation, but on malice and heresy you don’t need 380 gear with perfect stats. It’s clearly not what the experience is balanced around. And at the end of the day, the tide games are simply a PvE zombie shooter. “Balance” is arbitrary. And weapons are, apart from some number-of-hits-needed thresholds, a quite minor aspect of it, imho. This is not a competetive asymetrical PvP game, where “fairness” and “balance” are crucial aspects of the experience.
And in Vermintide2, Cataclysm made up only 8% of games played. Half the games were played at Veteran and Legend. I would guess the percentage for Damnation games in Darktide is a quite a bit lower, making this issue even more niche.

So we both probably agree that it’s more something psychological (“I might not reach the weapon ceiling, and that bugs me.”) than something based on actual gameplay experience (“The game is not fun to play”). And apparently, we are thinking very differently about this.

By your logic, the game would be “better (for you)” if all the stats were fixed at 80% and there were only feats/blessing up to T2 or T3. This would make the weapon ceiling quite achievable. No more uncertainty about getting the perfect gear → more happyness. Honestly, this sounds very alien to me, and actually feels like objectively less options and variety.

I also feel like the issue is mitigated by the existence of weapon patterns. (Which again, is imho a nice improvement in Darktide compared to VT2.) A brown weapon vs a blue weapon is already deterministic choice between prioritising weapon damage or number of shots. And the stat difference between patterns is larger than what you get from weapon stat RNG.

Blockquote I think this would be a perfect solution. If there is a worry about making it take too long, you can have some exorbant crafting costs. I believe this is a very important point because it means that every mission you are always working to a goal. It doesn’t matter that it might take awhile, you know that if you play enough games you WILL get what you want eventually.

But you already have so many “working towards a goal” (“Carrots”) mechanics in the game. There’s Penances, there’s Melks. There’s the entire “earn ingame currency to buy cosmetics” aspect. Imho, Darktide doesn’t lack for that, and what you are proposing sounds like more of the same to me.

By contrast, weapons are more like a scratchcard/booster pack thing for me. They provide suspense when opening, and perhaps a small endorphin kick if there’s something nice. But they are nothing I work towards. “Solving” weapons would take that away.

Personally, I’m more of a Shooter person, so I’m very used to not having any levelling or crafting on my weapons. What matters to me most is the actual weapons feel and handling. And again, that’s superb in Darktide. Honestly, I’m still in awe at how “40k clunky yet playable” everything feels. I never thought I would like a chainsword, but the weapon just feels good. So does the bolter. And the lasgun. And… You get my drift. The weapons simply feel awesome even on lower levels. (And a lot better than in VT2.) And again, it’s something this game doesn’t get enough credit for.

So yes, I feel like this screaming about locks has become excessive and self-indulgent with an ugly group-think argumentation. Even in this thread, people don’t think twice about insulting devs about what’s a very theoretical aspect of the game experience.

And yes, if it’s ok to only achieve a “perfect weapon set” after 800 hours of play, than that’s something out of the scope of most players. It’s a totally unfair criterium to judge a game on, when other games deliver 30-80 hours of content, sometimes with almost gamebreaking bugs, and get 9/10 points on steam. Frankly, I feel like some posters have lost all sense of proportion on this.

You’re literally being sucked into gacha mechanics and praising them but the RNG systems in Darktide are legitimately worse than actual mobile gacha game systems.

I should repeat something I said a long time ago.

When you don’t like a game, and think that this game is truly a waste of time, you should play an other one.

I firmly believe that criticism is something needed. But doings complaints all the time is not only useless… It is also boring, annoying, and just harm the game for no result.
If you think that the devs don’t know, by now, that a part of the community wants locks removed, then there is nothing we can do for you
If you think that they will destroy their crafting system just cause you ask… you have seriously to rethink at the situation.
I am not fan of the RNG, mainly cause you can get stronger weapons, and that I prefer balance between weapons, but also players. I said it several times, I would have prefered a system where you never can get a perfect weapon and where you have to choose the weakness of your weapon. But i am not totally stupid, they won’t delete the system they made to implement something fundamentally different.

Anyways, I played on damnation for 4 weeks with a 320 modifier weapon with T3 and T2 blessing, a useless perk and one T4. This cause I could not let a better weapon like I wanted. It was working fine. So, I firmly believe that, yes RNG is annoying but RNG is not really a problem if you love the gameplay.
And gameplay is awesome…

I believe, also, that there is 360k threads about how bad is the RNG… Please go post there. I made all these threads invisibles… And yet I have to see complaints every patch…
Maybe we could discuss of what a patch brings us in the threads opened for this? And you could post the same complaints for the last 6 months in the 360k opened thread about this?
Yes, I know… This is not the dominant voice… But tbh, I post less here cause of these perpetual useless complaints that bring nothing

What a braindead take, you must be trolling? Both me and everyone i know who has been playing since V1 are playing FOR THE GAMEPLAY AND THE COOP not for the damn RNG loot. When red items were introduced we rejoiced because we could finally build arsenals for every character and NOT engage with the randomized loot boxes to actually play a build i want. Guess witch characters i played the most in VT? The ones i had complete RED arsenals. You know why? Because once you have what you need you have the peace of mind that you dont have to worry about RNG no more.

The weakness of the weapons should be baked into the design of the weapon, not whether randomly rolled attributes/traits/properties can make or break a weapon.

What I think, and what is totally useless cause they won’t change their system, is that they should have made a system that permits you to choose everything you want: modifiers, perks, blessings.
You would have get points by increasing the consecrating level. And anything you would add, you consume these points. This would have forced all players to choose the strenght and weakness of your weapon. But it would have allowed a total freedom to test anything you want…
So, I was not talking about the RNG… My main concern of the RNG is that it can allow you to have perfect weapons… I have lot of perfect weapons. I have just replaced the 320 modifiers weapon I talk about… now I have my shotgun with 370+ modifiers, No respite T4 and 2 T4 perks…
Anyways, I would prefer we can discuss about the patch and content they bring instead of these pointless discussion about the RNG system.
We cannot discuss anything in this forum without seeing someone that says, “Fatshark has failed” or “All is cause of these layers of RNG”, or “I have given up this game”.
Seriously, if it is what a forum member thinks, there are millions of other games that are surely better for him.
As I said several times, when I don’t like a game, I ask a refund if I am in the 2 hours window, or I uninstall it and forget it. For 40 bucks I have never spent 6 months at complaining about a game… this is pure masochism.

I mean another reason people can be still at it after 6 months is that they like the game, but there’s something stopping them liking the game as much as they want to. They want the same ideal game, but they’re coming at it from another direction.

Then they should look for an other game, if they are not satisfied. And maybe they could come back and realize this is not as terrible as they think.
And if it doesn’t change their mind, fine, that’s their right. There are lot of alternatives.
Cause complaining during 6 months in every threads, insulting devs, being sacarstics all the time… no this is not showing they like the game.
As I said, they won’t remove the locks… get over it. They will surely make the crafting easier (something I will welcome for casual gamers that would want to play this game), but I don’t think that they will remove the locks (in fact, I firmly believe they won’t…). Maybe with red weapons there will be a system to permit a little more freedom… but we are far from the red weapons.

This is sad, considering this is just a recolor of the last cosmetic they have given us (blue helmet avalaible for free this month)
