Myself and a friend of mine play Vermintide 2 most nights as it’s we both enjoy it, though for the past few nights we haven’t been able to connect with each other, we keep getting “connection lost” we restated our games and consoles (PS4 players) and even our WiFi thinking it was something on our side, but when we tried to connect with another friend it works fine, we can play games with another friend hosting or hosting games by ourselves but we cannot connect with each other? Is there any you guys and gals can recommend?
Aye your correct we used to play nearly every night but for the last 5-6 nights we can’t connect to each other and yet we can connect to other people and whatnot, we have tried restarting our games/consoles/WiFi the lot and yet nothing, we even reinstalled our games to see if that would fix it and still nothing just “CONNECTION TIMEOUT”
Yep that’s our situation so far, the only problem with trying to connect to a third party is that Quick Plays don’t always match us up and then we are somewhat at the mercy of the host and the only mutual friend we have in common who plays the game only comes on kinda when he feels like it cause he plays different games,
Unfortunately we’re not able to analyse networking issues that occur externally on consoles (it’s incredibly complicated). This means, unfortunately, we can’t look ‘behind the scenes’ in your case to see why this is occurring. I do suspect this is more of a local issue as it’s come on so suddenly without the introduction of a new patch or any backend changes. At least on PC, the CONNECTION TIMEOUT error is often router-related - could you perhaps hook your console up to a mobile data connection to see if the issue persists? (Not a solution, but part of the debugging process)
Thank you for getting back to me, I’ll try it out later tonight and see if that resolves anything, thank you too all those who have commented on this, I’ll more than probably make another comment later on how it goes
@FatsharkJulia Hiya! So me and my mate tried to connect via mobile data and it worked turns out that if I’m connected to the mobile data he can join me! Though it doesn’t work the other way round, we think it’s my internet at this point, (I have some works being done close to my house so we believe it’s something to do with that) however the only thing is that it’s only him I have problems connecting with still
It’s been so long since I’ve used a console… but back in my CoD4 days, I think I had to port forward my router to get NAT type Open. Not sure if that’s still a thing. Otherwise I’d always be set to moderate or closed. And it made it super hard to find lobbies.
Edit, just Googled. Apparently all you have to do is this,
Just follow these steps:
Navigate to your router login page. …
Log in to your router using the required credentials.
Navigate to the UPnP menu on your router. …
Enable UPnP.
Save your changes.
Open the Settings app on your Xbox One.
Select the Network tab.
Select the Test NAT type tile
Maybe I was remembering port forwarding from hosting Minecraft servers or something.
