Congratulations, stupidest thing you guys have ever created

Seriously, hats off to you guys and your utter refusal to engage with a good lobby system in your games ever since you released Darktide.

Versus is the most pointless experience I’ve ever seen. Almost every match starts with 3 players out of 8 present, so by the time a full 8v8 is established, the score is already unbalanced in one team’s favor. When trying to join games, you can only join games that are already halfway over and 90% of the time you’re placed on the losing team’s side.

A thoroughly joyless, rancid experience, I can’t imagine what it must be like to be the dev that has to be credited with this SLOP!

And why is there GAMER NUMBERS all over my screen? I don’t care how much damage I do with my globadier shots, I’m not a 12 year old, I don’t need FLASHY DEVIL MAY CRY numbers spammed on my screen everywhere.

The best thing they could have done: Never, ever do versus, and use the resources that were spent on it to fix the myriad of balance issues, stability issues, QoL issues, bug issues that the base game has.

The second best thing they could have done: Treat Versus entirely as a separate side project, preferably with its own launcher, with 0 interaction between it and the base game.

Third best thing: Have them in the same game, but no interaction betwen the two modes whatsoever.

This is getting downhill from here.

Have some minimal interaction between the modes, but don’t try to force the PvE community into this toxic broken pile of shít through versus-exclusive items and such.

Or if you have that, at least introduce the Versus mode without 9000 game breaking bugs, including progress wipes.

WE ARE HERE:
Priorise a versus mode wanted by a loud but small minority over the base game, while the base game is barely playable, QoL is still dogshít after years, the menu system and command wheels are barely functional, weapon balance is nonexistent, most talents are not used because talent balance is nonexistent, rats still spawn behind people’s backs which is the #1 damage source in the game, no client side dodging or blocking still, loot system is worse than it ever was before the rework, the crafting system is still shít, the deeds are still shít, the weaves are still shít, the Chaos Wastes is just barely OK as long as you don’t play as Zealot. Adventure mode is good, aside from the lack of consistent difficulty across maps, or any sort of proportional rewarding of difficulty or length, but hey, people mass suiciding in the game and hosts disbanding when the QP rolls a trachery map or Enchanter’s Lair is no biggie, right? So we got Versus. With Versus-exclsuive items for the entire game to force it and you can bet it’s going to be the main focus of just about all events from now on. Balance is laughable, no SBMM, gamebreaking exploits, a blatant hacker here and there, with more to come for sure, premades with thousands of hours VS people who literally just got the game. A horrid netcode that makes Dark Souls look good and 150+ ping for everyone being the norm on the dedicated QP potato servers. Now instead of having one decent game with decently ironed-out issues we’ll get two broken heaps of shít with 0 chance for major improvement for either, because Darktide is Fartshart’s main project now. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think Versus mode here is the case of giving someone enough rope to hang themselves, and they want to kill VT2 on purpose. Because just about none of the new players we got due to the 95% discount will ever get near this game again after trying versus, I guarantee that, and now the playerbase will be even more divided than ever before, matches will be harder to find, not to mention that the dimishing quality of the game will take its toll as well. Wonder how many people uninstalled because their Okri book progress got wiped with the update, or they found that they were locked out of the DLC maps THAT THEY HAVE PAID FOR!?

Don’t give me the “but iT’s fReE” bullshít either. I’d rather have the devs unfck the over 9000 issues in the game that I PAID FOR thank you very much, although, with or without Versus, given that a moderately talented highschooler intern could probably fix most, while Fartshart couldn’t for years, I wouldn’t have my hopes up either way.

Still more and better content than Darktide.

I think there is an option to disable them.
In option - versus somewhere.

I gave it a good try during alpha, VS mode felt unfun. I might go back but all my friends have been hard no since coop can already be frustrating with pubs.

Yes, We are here - 6 years later!

Too bad, the game mode IS free and a clear passion project by the devs. Overall V2 is a hidden gem failed VS or not.

Yes, I believe this was how they worded it in the Versus FAQ blog posts years ago and how I assumed it was going to be launched. I can understand the frustration of having some cosmetics locked to having to play this game mode (and win matches to get the currency).

Personally, I’ve been having a ton of fun not taking it too seriously. I’ve been playing with two of my friends who would never touch Vermintide because they don’t care for PvE stuff. It’s obviously not perfect yet, but in voice chat I can tell they are really enjoying it.

Edit : answer to the OP

Free content and people complaining.
Also, some people love it.

What do you prefer? Having to go through the whole game to get some rewards or be able to leave at some point? Either way I guess you would cry for one side of the story or the other.

It’s not a fatshark issue if people leave or rage quit, it’s a baby issue and people not able to manage frustration in nowadays games.
This is just like the old Left 4 Dead versus mode and I enjoy it.
Except back then, people were not crying over nothing and especially not over free content.

It requires more tuning, more specials and more maps, yes but I like having the possibility to play it and for free too (would have paid for it anyway)

Oh here is the “iTs fReE cOnTenT” mouthbreather. Yeah. Totally free. Apart from the bugged release breaking the game and wiping the challenge progress of half the players, locking them out of difficulties and paid DLC maps until they complete the base game again. Apart from all the work hours going into this shít instead of fixing the actual game, which is still a bugfest after years and still doesn’t have anything resembling balance. Go ahead. Tell people how they are babies UNLIKE CHAD L4D versus players, who don’t quit. Oh yeah. They just immediately votekick people at the first perceived, usually not even real, mistake. LIKE REAL MEN. Toxic positivity morons such as you are the chief reason why companies can get away with making LITERAL SHÍT because no matter how much rancid it is, how much it stinks, people like you will grab a spoon and eat it up pretending that it is chocolate ice cream, while telling everyone else that they complain too much.

looks like you are carrying some baggage from L4D. I never heard of players being voted in that game.

The game has been out for 6 years and they are still providing updates and content.

I cant stand the “Its free content” Argument either so i end up instantly blocking everyone like that so i never see them post anything again lol.

People leaving is a FS issue, because it was FS decision to allow people go into versus straight away without completing single map on recruit.
And it was FS decision to not implement any Matchmaker.
Because why should they NOT leave in stomps?
It is not fun for anyone. Just waste of time

I agree with you. Boggles my mind how some people are up in arms and freaking out about this awesome free update for us.

Sure, more tuning is needed, but it will come. Thanks and keep up the good work Fatshark!

Because it is dev time that was spend on things that they dont like and want.
There are no any changes to other mods so people are upset.

Massive L-Take, sorry mr. Rabbit.

Contrary to what you said, Versus is the best thing they have done in a while. Its fun outpaces the (at this point played out) campaign missions. Being a mean rat and getting to throw green balls of bile onto people just doesn’t get old.

Also the numbers are a GOOD gameplay indicator from a design standpoint - > You get to see that you hit and how often and how much damage you dealt.
It’s necessary even because otherwise you would have zero confirmation for targets in the distance.

Not a true in 9 games out of 10.

While the OP could have definitely presented the sentiment a lot better, I can’t help but agree. Versus could be a lot of fun. There’s some balance issues in terms of ranged weapons, and the game mode is inherently restrictive on what talents will and will not see use because it creates a completely different environment from all the other game modes (hordes are irrelevant, elites and armor are few and far between, special sniping is everything) so the balancing of careers will always be a mess.

But that, one could cope with. One cannot cope with the fact the game mode is in a “toiletbowl spiral” because of the nonexistent matchmaker. You simply cannot have a game mode where players are pitted against each other and not account for differences in player skill levels. We don’t need a full on MMR system, or the game to track player’s play time. But one would assume the whole Versus Rank system was implemented for a reason. Not just a cosmetic banner and some chest and coin rewards on lvlup. So use it to assign players into matches. Cause otherwise the spiral continues: Players join a game. One team has 4 lvl 35s, one has two lvl 35s, a lvl 18 and a lvl 6. The two 35s on the worse team have maybe 5 versus games between them. The full lvl 35 team is in green to orange ranks. That’s if you’re lucky any there are no bots to begin with (which also don’t get distributed evenly between the teams for some insane reason). Who do you think will win? The players know that too. So players on the “disadvantaged” team will start leaving, furthering the spiral. And then those people that were left on the disadvantaged team sure are gonna have an awful experience with the bots. They’ll probably leave. Or if they don’t, they’ll seriously consider not queueing for another. And these are the players you should be looking out for the most. You know, the new players, the ones the game should by trying to retain. Those are the ones that will have the worst experience.

Then there’s the poor players just looking for a match. More than half the time, those get thrown into this mess midway through a game, where one team has 0 points and the other 230 after the first round. They’re not gonna have a good time either.

Versus is currently more about fighting the damn lobby system/matchmaker (or absence thereof) than fighting the rats. I queue to get my first win of the day bonus (to farm sellsword marks for cosmetics) hoping the game is as imbalanced in my favour as it can be so I can get it done quick. Cause you can easily spend an hour queueing from one horrible match that’s already decided to another. With long wait times in between, I should mention. Those would be a whole lot more tolerable too if a good game was waiting at the end of it. But 9 times out of 10, it’s an entirely one-sided mess. And it’s a shame, cause as much as I prefer PvE to PvP in most games, Versus really had a lot of potential. And I say had cause I’m pretty sure the horrible matchmaking killed all interest in the mode for a lot of people. You only get to make a first impression once. And Versus botched it hard, due almost entirely to the ridiculous matchmaking.

We need full MMR system. Versus only rank 100 player is like veteran player from PVE. Cata player with few hours of versus will be 20 times better

Only way to save versus is to make fan made versus discord with our own match maker and MMR system.

I fully agree with the frustration here, especially about progress being wiped and the ridiculous fact that people are being locked out of DLC maps they paid for and already unlocked. This isn’t just incompetence; it’s outright disrespect for the community that has kept this game alive. Fatshark has shown, time and again, that they’re more interested in chasing flashy additions like Versus mode rather than addressing the mountain of bugs and issues that have plagued the core game for years.

Let’s get one thing straight: Versus might have been wanted by some, but prioritizing it over fixing the base game—a game that barely functions for many players—is an insult to everyone who’s put time, money, and trust into Vermintide 2. Who cares about a Versus mode when basic progression systems are broken, balance is non-existent, and paid content is inaccessible? People don’t buy DLC to stare at locked maps and watch thousands of hours of progress get wiped out.

The community has tried being patient. We’ve sent polite feedback, pointed out the issues, and waited for fixes that never come. But patience has limits, and Fatshark is running out of goodwill. If they think they can sweep this under the rug with silence or half-hearted “fixes,” they’re sorely mistaken.

Enough is enough. The least Fatshark could do is show basic respect to their customers by fixing what they broke, communicating openly, and delivering the product people paid for. Anything less is just adding insult to injury.
