Class Items - Add an additional item that allows class specific passive bonuses

I think the itemization in the game should be expanded by one additional slot: The class item. This would basically be an extra curio, but all the items for that slot are unique to the class you’re playing.

The reason for this would be that it would allow us to introduce a whole bunch of things to the itemization of the game that currently can’t be put on curios because not all classes have the same stats.

For example, Peril Resistance or Granade Limit can’t be put on an item, because there are classes that don’t have grenades or don’t generate peril.

A class item could also have a general power level that scales class abilities. For example Brain Burst or Frag Grenade damage could scale up by getting better Psykinetic or Marksman class items.

Lastly it would allow the devs to introduce class specific blessings. Power replacers for your Blitz or Ability for example that can’t really be included in the talent trees because they are effectively sidgrades. It could also include other ways to fundamentally alter your character’s functionality. For example, changing your toughness to be 50% resistant to ranged fire but not work against melee at all.

So basically adding a class item would allow all kinds of things that are currently kind of missing from the character customization. Scaling on class abilities and blitz, class specific blessings, bonus stats like peril resistance, max ammo, plasma gun cooldown.

Simply being able to have some bonuses on some classes outside of their class specific weapons would open up character customization a lot.

I like this idea. Bump

Agreed. Current curios also feels so boring, nothing really exciting or new to play around with, no matter what you choose.

I Can’t believe they went with the incredibly dull and uninteresting VT2 items yet again.
It’s very unimaginative to just slap percentage bonuses on everything.

Darktide needed its own matrix cores, but it seems FS is way too rigid and narrow in their thinking for anything like that to happen.

There are weapon blessing that are unique to certain weapon

You could have the curios have blessing that appear only on certain archetypes, the problem would be that you would have 3 blessing, other wise maybe have a special Curio slot that activate the blessing, while the 2 other don’t

I don’t think they need to redesign the curios to add something new.

Veteran getting their ammo satchel (gaining a multiplier to ammo or reload speed),
Zealot gaining an Offhand weapon (dual wield single handed weapons or Backup for Running out of ammo).
Psyker Carries a Servo Skull (can reveal hidden loot)
Ogryn Gains a Slab (One handed weapons and a backup for running out of ammo.

Off hand weapon would be their own weapon kits, like in VT, with Twin Hammer, shielded weapon etc…

I do feel like the shield should have just been standard equipment on the Ogryn. It’s silly that their most unique and interesting melee weapon is a one off item you have to equip instead of everything else just to have access to that capability.
