For a long time i barely played this game, like few runs per month. Can’t even finish leveling up arbites. Was still fun to exercise in coach game design and just chating on the forum, but suddenly it stopped being so. Next half of the year they will focus on making Expeditions worthwile to play and reworking next class either to become OP or because it’s OP.
Neither i have any desire to provide any feedback fot their next game if there will be such.
Now when i have bought new PC it’s time dive into my ga(y)mer backlog.
@FatsharkJulia would you be so kind to deliver the Emperor’s mercy to my account (delete it i can’t find anything in the setting do it myself).
Yup, that’s the thing there are loads of indie games. Games like those are good for short bursts of entertainment.
There are good AAA single player games but once you finish campaign few times, less likely to come back regularly in future. i.e. RPGs, Adventure games etc
In terms of good online games - There isn’t many which have good gameplay loop as Darktide. Well Tom Clancy’s Division 2 Coop game occupied me for good few years. Apex Legends and Overwatch are great as free games requiring agility movement than sneaking around.
Before it was trend of online battle royale games and arena, now moving towards including extraction element with gear loss risk. Trying to be next Apex Legends level of success.
The real trend is spray and pray investments i.e. Tencent. They fire off investments in as many game projects as possible even if risk of success is low, acceptance of that risk and monetary loss and then it will hit one that strikes it lucky for success to over compensate. Hence you see all these games made, then suddenly layoffs shortly after. It also means a lot of game devs want to minimise risk by chasing trends of battle royale/extraction online to play it safer than innovation to be unique. But then just not unique or engaging enough to pull the player numbers away from other ones in competition that have already established themselves in that segment.
Pretty much, the devs aren’t listening to all this feedback anymore or they’re just too slow to deliver on said feedback. There is years of repeated gameplay feedback posts here from the core base that i feel like the devs just don’t care.
Fatshark please do this fatshark do that, the same song everytime and no change.
I do not know you but I wish you the best on your journey!
I am a little bit sad to read something like that. Darktide is the first game of this kind I’ve played so far and I really like(d) it. The concept, not how it is implemented… nothing new and nothing that needs to be discussed and the thing that lead you to leave the game behind.
Enjoy life and maybe, just maybe, you’ll come back. If not, that’s fine, too. May the emperor be with you!
my story started with the need to reinstall windows following the 25H2 update. After 1 week of reinstallation and fight against my own machine (and windows reinstalling silently the 25H2 without my consent), I have come to the conclusion I needed to try Linux.
I am now on a Fedora 43 and don’t think to return to Windows (it would be such a pain that I cannot think seriously to this).
Then my phone had a problem… So, I filled a complain to get the warranty activated. It seems they will require 2 weeks to repair it. So, I decided that I will get an /e/ os phone (fairphone 6 - a phone that can be repaired and without android)… no more google, great with what will come from them. So, my pixel will go to be repaired, and when it returns it will be sold.
Then, I have got a problem on my Xbox serie X. The account of my son could never connect the gamepass. In less than 1 month I had removed windows from my home (the laptops are now on Linux and even the computer of my wife) and google… So, I decided to also remove the console that I will replace by a “bazzite” console… and I will sell the xbox. Let’s say this is my CURRENT project.
A Linux Bazzite Console…
I am here also, mainly because of the latest patches. They destroyed veterans a long time ago… they destroyed the zealot also… and now, Scums are the next.
I don’t feel the mood to play this game. I take lot of fun now in Arc Raiders. Maybe it won’t last, but I have so many games that I have to finish (let’s say that 99.9% of games work perfectly on Linux).
I think that it will end, soon enough, by pressing uninstall. Expeditions were the worst thing they could add. And considering what happened for Havoc, yes, they will spend the next year trying to fix something that has no place in this game (personal opinion).
So, yes, I am at same point. Yesterday I started to answer someone and closed the page… for what purpose answering? anyways, it will change nothing, they will destroy also the fun on Scums. It always end like that, instead of fixing and balancing, they add things to FORCE you to play a way, it ends with restrictions.
I am at the point where I don’t think it is really worth to spend time writing comments.
I will miss the forum however. Few games maintain a forum. This was the greatest decision from Fatshark to rely on such a forum.
Sidenote: this game looks promising… maybe it won’t be, but it looks like something I will follow
Sorry I see you go. But I completely understand. The only reason I play at all is the combat loop. Everything else they add the game is done in the laziest way and they don’t even pretend the listen to feedback. There is just a bunch of admins who are very comfortable with their positions and so just push along just enough to keep their jobs. But have absolutely no love or care for the actual game. It’s just a paycheck for them. Nothing more. The entire reason this game even still exists is entirely because of a small handfull of talented developers who created the combat loop to start with. God even knows if those core devs even work there anymore. Go look up Fatshark reviews from previous employees and you’ll see the complaints about the absolute disconnect the management has from the employees and their audience.
This game could be world class. But again. Top brass just doesn’t care. I hope maybe one day someone would make a petition list to send to Tecent to explain how Fatshark is dropping the ball that maybe it would anger them enough as a majority stockholder to go there and crack some heads or something. That’s about the only way anything would ever change.
