It’s unfortunate to be certain, but some things are culturally bricked.
Same way its quite risky to do a Charlie Chaplin cosplay. You take off your bowler hat, and suddenly the context can shift quite dramatically.
Personally, I’m against using RL names of any kind on the internet. Things got worse after that started, and I blame facebook for it.
That’s when the online culture truly shifted. Not remotely for the better either.
EDIT: Perhaps, I’m remembering things too fondly. I’m thinking of the wild west of crappy meme videos made with no ulterior motive such as potential profit or clout. Just the desire to make people laugh.
Feel like a lot of that went out the window when real life names came onto the stage.

I just don’t think that always stand by majority is a way. It’s naturally and all but this name change is not justified.

I went through several WoW guild names that we’re mostly harmless, but I knew what I was doing.
GMs had me change the name, and eventually threatened to ban me.
Fat kids are hard to kidnap, your mom gave me a bijou, OH GOD IM PROCCING, etc etc
It was a laugh, and part of the fun.
Now is it unfortunate that some people are named poorly by either ignorant, or not so well meaning parents? Yes. It is, but the beauty of the online world is that you can choose your handle, your tag, what you go by. I blame their lack of creativity if you just use your RL name.
If I was named Zedong I sure as sh*t would not go by that name online.
