A natural progression of a thread where someone named their character Adolf, and clearly knew what they are doing when they did, and then did surprised pikachu face when they got a minor slap on the wrist.
Were you expecting something constructive? Might as well do some high level sh*t posting.
And my point was even though this is right - if there is a real Adolf who named his character after his own name - the outcome from devs/publisher would be the same.
For me renaming someone just because he’s Adolf is a bad PR. Is it legally forbidden? If not, then why they think they allowed to do so?
You know what I revert my original post, it think this is a very communist move - the majority didn’t like it so we’ll change it. By communists I mean not real communism and theory etc but the one that USSR and its satellites were building.
It’s a zero sum game if that’s his actual name. There’s no winning, but you can play damage control.
You get some reddit threads or w/e social media posts complaining about a guy named Jihad, or Adolf, Stalin, Mao w/e the hell that’s equally as bad as someone claiming their parents named them Adolf, and they just wanted to use their name for their character.
Who said that it must be natural to degenerate into shitposting from such premises? On this same thread there are those who responded without going into politics. Perhaps this is a “natural progression” only in the presence of trolls and interlocutors of little intellectual depth, but we don’t necessarily have to sink to their levels, right? Let’s stick to the immediate problem and that’s it.
I might be mistaken but ain’t every character that could have place in a real world is of western world? Ashely Graham, Lara Croft? I also see elves, aren’t they from European folklore? That’s my point.
I don’t think japanese are that interested in Chinese or Russian characters as much as Americans. Though I must admit they’re interested in Russians to a degree.
I mean, are you trying to say that Japan is a western country only because of economical-political relationships? Cause in it’s core Japan is a national state. I bet japanese people don’t think they are a western civilization, lol.
Aswell as japanese companies can do such things for western companies will be canceled in twitter
I am not saying they are western western but they closer to the west than to their neighbours and based on that they more western than eastern. Like political regime or allies or global business presence, technology pool etc.
Isn’t it literally just a German first name? So that first name even on its own is just taboo forever because of one guy 80 years ago? And you’re gonna “oh come on” me? Look I’m usually on the side of the people going “haha deserved” for these name got banned threads but I really do have to draw the line at a damn first name on its own. Not gonna give bad people the power to ruin a damn first name on its own for a century or more.
Edit: yes I know OP outted themselves already but FS had no way to know that when they forcibly renamed them so that’s entirely irrelevant.
I’ve known a few people named Adolf (and one Adolfo), all born long after WW2. Usually from countries where they pick your first name depending on the saint of the day you were born.
Idk why people give up on this. Since when Adolf is a bad word? Like it’s not enough what people named Adolf faced after Nazi regime collapsed, lets also shame them for their name.
Can you imagine how many terrorists named Mohammed there? That’s just because Mohammed is a common name. Like John or Ivan which are terrorist too if you Google it.
What if someone named his character John/Ivan/Mohammed after the terrorist? You can’t tell. So move along.
