You and people who find stuff like this “spicy” or funny are a plague. If you can’t exercise a basic level of civility in public spaces you don’t deserve to occupy them. If you’re not a 14 year old there’s no rational reason left to be excusing this kind of stuff.

I dislike it too. Unfortunately 40K is going to attract some of the more unsavory types just because of the type of humor that it runs with, especially those who don’t know where the line is.

listen. im not saying it isnt crass or somewhat rude. but this whole thing about overly caring is exactly the kind of reason why people choose the names in the first place, its a fishing scheme and youre playing right into their hands- giving the words or even implications of the words more power than they should carry. its the exact same shtick you see from almost every name on steam. it gets us nowhere other than what we’re doing right now, arguing on a forum

its a game where people are finding workarounds for names on steam of all places, what did you expect. im trying to illustrate that its basically flailing to get mad at something like this. and if this guy for example gets banned or punished in some way over this- what was the old saying? something along the lines or dissonance gets more credence the more you attempt to snuff it.

I wish you’d elaborated a little more in the first place, that’s a more nuanced position than your original response suggested. I disagree there’s no point in making any attempt to stop this kind of thing, or that getting a rise out of people is the only reason people give themselves these kinds of names, but I’m equally inclined to think arguing over it in a game forum is pretty fruitless.
thanks for the response man. im glad im able to get my point across. i just think getting ones britches in a twist over a name only maybe the maker of the name/some passerby’s is really making a mountain out of a mole-hill. considering like that other guy mentioned its also kinda telling that OP’s line for what is and isnt humerous and tasteful is tenuous at best. ultimatly this orgyn player isnt going to matter. and caring and throwing a fit is going to make more people realize theres a bear to poke. in a manner of speaking. it don’t matta’- none a’ this matta’s

TBC I agree with OP there’s a pretty clear line between pee chugger and racist slurs. I also think it’s totally fine that OP raised this, and I don’t see an issue with the way they’ve raised it either, which was fairly mild and level headed. I will be curious to see if we get a Dev response to this thread with their thoughts.
I merely don’t see much merit in arguing here where the line should be regarding what names do and do not get banned. I doubt FS is going to make decisions in that regard over 1 or 2 threads popping up on the matter.
I do think it would be equally healthy for you to just let people like OP point stuff like this out and then let FS decide if they wanna do anything about it or not.

personally to make both parties happy i say just put certain name/letter combinations behind the profanity filter and call it a day. players can have their chuckles- and people can avert wont have to deal with seeing whatever makes them upset. but frankly i dont think that’d make anybody happy because i also think its true that people who tend to complain about this sort of thing also seek it out to an extent so they can complain about it.
i dont question the validity of anybody’s argument. i question the higher motive here.
because sure, its a crass name. but he took the time to bring the name that i bet most people just went “thats a little racist lmao” and moved on- instead bringing it to the forum. so even if there was a filter. he’d still be picking unnecessary fights. and profanity filter or no he’s going to be the inverse kind of toxic that rises up in response to what he views as inappropriate.

I actually agree its a non-issue, and i’m black. Just add a censor to the nametag if anything, and have people who skirt the censor like this guy get a forced name change.
I’d argue people should stop giving words so much power in general really tbh. It’s probably just some edgy kid doing it to get a rise out of people like yourself.

I can’t disagree more. It’s good that FS can see multiple points of view regarding a non-issue like this from the community before they make a decision about where to draw the line.
