Chainsaw weapon bug

I frequently encounter a camera/view bug when using chain weapons—the view will suddenly shift dramatically, like snapping to look at the floor. Is there any way to fix this (or maybe through a mod)?

As a chainsword main I know what you mean but it’s not really a bug but more an unfortunate side effect of how they work. The camera always centers to the point where your chainweapon is caught in the enemy’s body. If the enemy for instance charges a diagonal strike where he puts his right hand over his left shoulder and you hit that hand, it will shift your camera with that hand going down from his stagger animation.

The other thing where you may turn around completely all of the sudden is when an enemy you don’t even see is standing close to the side or behind you and one of their arms is going through your face just as you where striking your weapon and their arm got hit, causing you to turn completely around towards them. This however is rather rare and requires you to basically touch an enemy with your back or side.

The looking on the floor part is probably when you swing a vertical attack while missing the entire body of the enemy but hit it’s feet, or another enemy that is laying on the ground from a hard stagger, like explosions or Ogryn bull rush.

As for a solution, the only thing that would come to mind is that the attacks that get stuck only register towards the middle of the screen, which would probably cause more people to complain about chainweapons than the camera shift thing.

I guess it’s how it’s coded, I wish they didn’t snap when you hit a target, they just ‘stick’ instead. Then again I wish you’d cleave through things if you kill them during one of the damage ticks, so you could hurt someone with the rev attack after killing your current target.

They fixed this a long time ago. However Fatshark has no clue what version control is so bugs will often get unfixed.

I wish they would just uncouple your viewmodel from your camera when that stuff happens. No more brutal and disorienting camera movements would be nice.

That is a straight up false information right there. I play this game since the beta and Chainsword is my most used weapon. This was never “fixed”, as it is not a bug or something easy to fix. I explained it higher up how it works and it’s just an unfortunate side effect of how the saw mechanic works.

Also when did Fatshark ever accidentally revert a fix? That is also just made up.

TBH that has been demonstrated to be true many times. Case in point, since the Skitarius update pressing the Ability button while charging a Heavy attack will replace it with a Light attack, which is a bummer for Fury of the Faithful zealots.

This is a new bug. I don’t remember this bug existing before and been fixed. Zora made it sound like Fatshark is too incompetent to patch the game and accidentally re-introducing bugs due to uploading older versions.

This is absolutely not a new bug.

Pressing your ability hotkey resets your held heavy attack to light

FatShark gets a lot of flak for being kinda slow or for their…unique approach to certain issues, and sometimes it’s not completely justified.

But over the years there have been many such cases where they’ve reintroduced old bugs. This was also true with Vermintide 2 previously. Fatshark has an issue with version control, and quality control in general, and it’s nothing new to veterans of their Tide games.

As far as I can tell they borked they FSR update they rolled out a few months ago with the Skitarii patch. Same behaviour as pre FSR

This is a company that once patched VT2 to an older version and didn’t notice for 6 months and kept wondering why old bugs keep reappearing.

It’s all in Fatshark hands, so…don’t expect any fixes any time soon, and likely ever. There have been multiple issues with chain weapons, some were just design issues, others are clear bugs. This is one of them.

More you use chain weapons more you will notice, especially stuff like “ghost” hits, and the weapon refusing to attach to your target when using the special. The sudden camera shift can be very disorienting, and I can imagine might make some people feeling sick.

I’m glad that at least they have decided to allow us to dodge out from the latching attacks…
