Carryable Lanterns in Power Supply Interruption

Not enough weapons with Torch, so the idea is that there would be a few lanterns placed throughout a mission that you can carry like a canister and place wherever useful. Ogryns would surely be happy to help with them too!

I’m honestly surprised how many players just fumble through the missions in the dark. I know the Ogryn has no choice to, but I’ve played a lot of games where (despite being the psyker) I’m the only person in the group who remembered to bring a torch.

Given they already had a mechanic in the Vermintide games for bringing along a light source, I’m surprised they’ve not implemented it here too.

It’s strange that trustworthy Inquisition aclolytes have no nightvision gear (it think it’s called photovisors in wh40k). Imagine how it could be if the gadget system they initially planned was there. It could be done so you buy gadget you want with dockets before every run, like consumables, and for photovisor there could be battery capacity maybe.

How about no? Torch maps (including the anti-plague torch) were the bane of my existence in VT2.

Light’s out where players have night vision sounds cool btw. You can actually stealth super well if you don’t light a bright torch in the enemy’s face.

Or at least give everyone a karking flashlight.

Flares, Gandalf. All I want is flares.

Quickplay exists.

I know that. I’m not including people who joined after the start.

These are all people who were there on the team loadout screen, where the special condition is listed and they had a chance to change their gear.

(Also, I do quickplay often enough. If I see Power Interruption is active as a global condition, I have the option to either pick specific missions, or switch to a loadout with a light before I’m dumped into a random game).

That’s because you do have very decent vision regardless, the mini flashlight that’s attached to your suit.
In VT2 it was pitch black, you couldn’t even see your own hands.

Torch would be fun, if it was an equippable item and you’d have to trade something else in for it. Or if you had a system like in Payday 2 where you need to buy assets you want to bring separately. Something to make you use it as a form of support.

There shouldn’t be a free torch, though.

I’m saying there should be a Power Cell/Vacuum Capsule/Cryonic Rod but instead it emits light and you can choose to haul it through the level. It doesn’t need to be really bright, just enough that it lights up the 10m radius around it.

It would also be atmospheric, wouldn’t it?

I wouldn’t call being barely able to see past melee range “very decent vision”.

The dim headlight stops you being completely blinded, but without a proper light, your ranged effectiveness is heavily limited.
(Even with a weapon torch, you’re still not able to place shots as far as you can when the lights are on).

Shotguns have no torch either, which is just weird to me that is not an option for at least one variant of them.
