It’s bad enough that enemies can spawn behind you in an instant, but the fact that you can’t even Sprint away from them to give you space is absurd. Turn around and sprint? They’re glued to you. You can watch them ‘skate’ attached to the backs of team mates.
It makes the entire play experience feel clumsy and intentionally unfair.
I was a little surprised to learn that you can’t out sprint enemies even with Stamina. At least not by default, there may be move speed increases that offer enough move speed to get ahead of them. As of right now they’ll run you down and probably before you’re even out of Stamina.
I want to be able to 180, get some distance, dash sideways a couple of times while turning back towards the enemy to re-asses myself.
In my opinion it makes sense in a dynamic and tense game like this one, but I literally can’t do that.
Even worse when you try to move alongside the enemies to get into a flanking position and suddenly find 20 enemies that were unaware of you moments ago magnetised to you instead because you got too close to one of them.
This is on purpose. The game core mechanics revolve around the melee combat. Learn the basics. Otherwise it would turn into players abusing the sprint to constantly kite enemies.
Sprint drains stamina, no reason for it not to be used to get some distance when you don’t have an absurd dodge distance weapon out. Also less silly than dodging sideways away from an enemy.
Right, it’s not like you can literally hit+dash sideways in circles around a mob pack without getting hit at all, players totally don’t abuse that.
But we should learn the basics, you are spot on.
You mean by actively dodging, pushing, blocking and attacking at the right moment? Have you played Vermintide 1 or 2? Darktide is building on the top of those systems. You are not supposed to able to sprint away from enemies.
You are not supposed to able to sprint away from enemies.

I can generate a dozen scenarios from the top of my head where running away is a must, but instead of just running away I turn 90 degrees and spam sideways dash to get away from mobs.
Enlighten me, what is the principal difference between me turning 90 degrees + spamming dash multiple times in order to create distance and me turning 180 degrees and run to get distance.
So, first method is the GOAT from combat perspective, right?
Hedge stated that we’re not even meant to be able to kite anymore, the system is different. Since dodging isn’t the end all answer anymore, sprinting could stand to be a little more useful.
So you don’t ignore the core gameplay mechanics (the melee combat) and replace these with shot, sprint away, repeat mediocrity. Fatshark games aren’t Destiny.
Where exactly did I say anything about shooting?
I said:
I can generate a dozen scenarios from the top of my head where running away is a must
And I asked
what is the principal difference between me turning 90 degrees + spamming dash multiple times in order to create distance and me turning 180 degrees and run to get distance
to which you replied with a speculation and insinuation about me sucking at the game.
Grow up and take an L like a man, you are obviously in the wrong and obviously exercising mental gymnastics to defend an obviously flawed combat aspect.
When you get glued to an enemy that is running away mid animation with saw weapons continuously dealing damage, that is a core mechanic too and should be in the game, right?
Because its the whole point, it generates a certain level of fear, and a need for you to be more cautious rather than just zerg in.
There is also a huge difference in this game with the availability of ranged weapons and how much more prominent they are amongst all classes vs vermintide. This changes the game completely, so if you are playing this like vermintide where it was a rush-thru slugfest, u will fail a lot.
Sick arguments, dog.
Now explain why stamina-boosted sprint is a mechanic.
Explain why sprinting drains my precious stamina if it can’t even outrun trash mobs.
