Can we stop with Reworks?

For two years now every Major update has been a Rework of a system that isn’t optimal but workable.

Have the reworks made those systems better? Yeah 100%

But alongside those reworks we have been getting the smallest amount of content, i think this one has got to be the most egregious. A train map thats basically a linear hallway that’s 5 minutes long? it’s not even a good experiment at short form content, theres no unique mechanics beyond the time limit.

I keep looking forward to these updates to find a place to jump back in and start playing again, but it’s always like "here’s one map play it once or twice and thats all your new stuff buddy! " If you aren’t a penance farmer (all the ones left i have to do are play (X) map (X) times) theres nothing interesting.

It’s such a dissapointment. stop reworking systems that are perfectly functional PLEASE.
Im happy for the locks complainers but please please make a shitload of maps and weapons and enemies now.

there are too many people complaining in their tester group for that, we will get useless reworks until they make the streamers happy or the game’s devcycle ends. probably the latter.

I for one actually really enjoy this update to the core systems.
I think they are in a good place now, and I think this is how the game should’ve been on release (and have been thinking that for 2 years).
This now enables the dev team to actually focus on content.

The game launched fundamentally…two years early and unfinished. This wasn’t reworking things just to rework them, it was actually…finishing the game, and addressing the biggest issues facing them in reviews and user feedback.

They’ve largely gotten to the “release” state they should have been for a real launch, there’s not much to truly rework.

we’ll see when year 3 has the “Paints of the Mechanicus” Cosmetic rework with 2 operation maps that are 2 more hallways

I don’t think the blame should be put on streamers. All of the streamers I have been watching and even feedback shared in discords by actual testers have been wanting them to fix severe spawn problems for months now that have been apparent since before the penance update, and add features like an actual mission selection system over the mission board. I think the only places I have seen calling for a major crafting rework are on forums and reddit, where this place even had a giant post dedicated to every single thread created or mentioning a crafting rework.

They honestly just need to stop overcomplicating their systems with their reworks. All that was need for the item overhaul was an ability to buy the rating you want, the ability to unlock specific blessings, no locks on weapons and a way to sell in bulk.

The whole mastery system is such a waste of time. 2 years of development were spent on this system that can be completely forgotten about in a week’s time as the only core interaction players will have after reaching max mastery is choosing blessings and perks, something they could’ve done by lifting locks.

Better yet, can we revert the stupid Bolter buff, i don’t want another year of playing NPC while the Vet plays the point and click Diva, thank you

Don’t worry about jakal
He’s just the resident crazy guy who screams nonsense

It’s literally Fatshark’s own fault their designed systems that support new content fundamentally undermines the new content. They have good core gameplay surrounded by rotting scaffolding and infrastructure.

The itemisation system before this patch meant you could play for hours and dump even more hours of resources into getting a most-likely sub-par version of a new weapon. It’s significantly better now, but you still have to keep spinning a wheel just to start.

The mission board is still a time-gated RNG mess. When a new mission comes out it over-satiates itself by permanently taking up a map slot per difficulty in its introductory period and reducing map choice significantly if you want to play any other map.

Those systems pre-overhaul was detrimental to the game’s experience and it’s good that they rework them. Piling more things on a shoddy foundation is just a sure way of having it all collapse later.

I remember when I was the only one crying for content n everyone said “content would be useless without the proper reworks.”

Well guys, time to wait a bit longer. Seems like theyre working on some content now.

Aren’t they busy making a PS5 port now? Maybe after they port it to Switch a magical shower of content will manifest out of thin air in year 2030

Just kite in some stuff from behind, go invisible and aggro dump that crusher overhead right on top of them!

Calling the previous itemization system „perfectly functional“…
Ok then.

Even if you personally did not care, you can not be so delusional to actually think that most people liked the old system.

This all could have been avoided if they had the foundational systems of their game working and in a good state at launch.

You might be right, keep that mentality up.

What makes you think you get to set deadlines?

That’s true, it doesn’t leave much in the terms of judgement for players. They can literally 0 brain their weapons by copy-pasta off the internet. Rather than making choices and working with what they’ve got. But, it is what it is, I love the game still, because even if you have a good weapon, doesn’t mean you know how to use it effectively. A lot of hidden mechanics and trade offs that players aren’t aware of, etc. I thought the new map was awesome. We have a lot of lengthy maps. Maps that take 30-40 minutes. Personally, I’d like a playlist of 10 minute maps that go for easy completion, for more casual play or if you’re on a time crunch IRL. Just so you can get that dopamine from viscera from the heretics and Jesper Kyd

Yeah, that ties into reworking the mission selection. Either it continues as it is, you never get the map you want when you want to play for the time you want to play, and it just collapses under its own weight of maps and conditions you never get to play… or they improve it by giving players more choice or more control with combinations of maps, conditions and difficulty.

I bet reworks will end after the PS5 release.

Those reworks make sense when trying to attract and hold new players.
