Correct. If Fatshark did everything the playtesters wanted, a lot of other things would have been changed a long time ago. Fatshark themselves are firmly in charge of what they focus on and when.
I agree with this sentiment. Next release should be a whole new environmental zone/area with minimum of 3 maps. A couple of new monstrosities and variations on other enemies too. Some real meat.
They definitely should keep the current event conditions as a normal condition. The Moebian zombies have given me the most fun in DT for ages. Loads of fun.
Fatshark does not have the manpower to produce that much content for a quarterly update, I can tell you that much right now.
While the itemization rework was direly needed, I admit we’re a little starved of actual new content. Getting Dueling swords on Vet and Zealot was nice, but these are not new weapons…
New stuff brings more people than reworks.
Standart player gonna think :“Oh they reworked weapons cool, but what about maps and missions? Still low, okay pass.” I personally know people like that.
Fatshark hoped that making overcomplicated rendomised system will cover low amound of actually playable content, and some actually took thi bite and istead playing spen hours rollin and grinding, but fortunately most didn’t felt for that trap.
Steamcharts of darktide :
Considering this huge jump in players going from 3000 to 13 000 on the day the update went live this was a damn good rework that made alot of people happy.
Before the update, new weapons didnt really matter much because it took an uncomfortably alot of time to actually get them to a playable/enjoyable state.
Now i can get a maxed out weapon almost immediately and upgrade it to max within a day.
And after i upgraded it, i can freely tinker with it for practically free.
Same thing with classes rework, that was a huge step up and update of new content which also saw a huge increase in players.
There is only 1 more rework left to be done : the mission select. After that darktide will be almost perfect and then can focus entirely on new content.
You needed to play to be able to roll and grind. The grind is also the playing. It’s not even a grind because grind usually implies some amount of incremental progress even if RNG doesn’t line up. The difference was the old system was one where the number of resources, therefore time, therefore playing, needed to get something decent was obscene unless you were very lucky multiple times. What’s the point of new weapons (which are content) if you kept on getting crap versions of them for hours and hours of playing and rolling?
If you look at the update cycle you can see that they have a player peak that then decay back to normal player count, the rework was needed to slow down that decay (not stop it, that will never happen)
I don’t think there are going to be major rework soon, but for the next update (as we know that there is still one for this year), I think we will look at a Traitor Curse update again.
So 1-2 maps, some weapon or marks (ideally finishing up marks), a couple of enemies (Tox Gryn, Dreg Lord)…
I’m not expecting that every quarter. But the next big release should be substantial new content. I’d rather a chunky content release that takes as long as it’s needed, over an arbitrary forced calender schedule.
They should really have a dedicated level designer or 2 who are constantly making white box levels. This should never cease.
I understand new enemy models/skins/anims/balance is a fairly hefty task but white boxing levels should be a constant bread and butter to a game like this.
Even if they’re new levels for the existing environmental zones, using existing art/meshes and maybe a few unique ones then this would also be great.
I prefer the map system as is, because this way, people are more likely to queue together, rather than everyone having their own favorites they want to play and dividing up the playerbase. I understand and appreciate the value in being able to choose your own options, though.
Ahhh. don’t listen to Sad Sacks.

The last few updates have been great. Admittedly with some oddities/bugs/soul destroying mastery conversions, but otherwise have been brilliant steps to improve the game.
We had a series of banging maps, starting with the Archivum. I like the new mini-map as it offers something a bit different. We’ve had some basic balance changes. A complete re-work of the crafting system in to something that is good (YMMV). New weapons. Some tree re-works.
I’d say that’s not bad at all given the early development cycle was just bug fixes. Would I like some more maps? Yeah, absolutely. Grouped in to a story arc would be nice, like VT2. Even a chaos wastes adventure. Do I want to be able to pick my own missions with conditions - meh, sure, but it’s not a deal breaker for me as I don’t do Auric Maelstrom’s exlusively.
I agree with the general speech of your post.
The train seems a good map. I would even want more like that.
The only point I don’t like is that the timer feels too punishing.
I still want a cosmetic rework.
I will be honest, I don’t care to pay. I want to give them more money, cause this is my all days game.
BUT, I want to have something great to play with.
What I would want is that.
But as we have no real cosmetic system, I don’t consider that a rework.
I agree. Give me my 1911 stub pistol.
I’d like to see some plantlife in new maps, and maybe a zone set in some huge mines. That could be cool!
Mines that uprooted some chaos artifacts that make the hordes go turbo or something ![]()

Did I hear Rough Rider class expansion for Veteran?
Excuse me, I think that you’re forgetting something? The addition of solo w/ bots! This was a promised feature! How would you feel if they never added crafting and kept telling you that crafting wasnt a priority despite campaigning on the ability to craft weapons being “almost ready” at launch.
But yeah, mission select too.
You can’t rework something that isn’t there, though I guess you can technically call it reworking the private game system.
Lol autocorrect wins again!
Strong disagree on the post, the reworks we’ve gotten and especially this one were absolutely necessary for us to have fun and actually be able to engage with all the equipment in the game.
New map is also superfuckingcool I love it so much, FS cooked so hard with this patch.
Don’t forget the Moebian special condition which is literally the most fun I’ve had in the game for a long time. It’s brilliant.
I truly hope they keep it as a normal condition after the event is over.
