In Patch#10 Rejects Unite. There was a significant change to the behaviour of ranged weapons while sprinting under the note: “Fixed a bug where you could circumvent fire rate restrictions on ranged weapons if used while sprinting.”
What changed was the allow while sprinting flag for hipfiring on nearly every gun was simply set to false.
I have several issues with this.
Firstly, it doesn’t achieve what the patch notes say; Slow shooting guns can still be fired faster with sprint cancelling.
Secondly it had a huge impact on mobile gunplay. For example, Infantry lasguns now have a massive 0.5s delay (0.25 for the Ia variant) to stop sprinting before firing. ADS fire is only 0.05s longer. Even the Laspistol, the ultimate mobile gun now has a sprint stop delay which kills momentum. I believe recon lasguns were the only guns left untouched.
After some community complaining staves were reverted Later Hotfix
Patch #10 included a change aimed at fixing sprint and firerate interactions, which had an unintended impact on charge attacks while sprint-sliding. Fixed so that sprinting into slide does not break charging on ‘Brainburst’ and all Psyker staffs.
Again with the sprint and firerate line, this didn’t fix that effect, but the revert on staves should be extended to the rest of the guns, at the very least ‘mobile’ guns like laspistol or the light gun variants. It would actually be a point of viability over the high dps slow shooting guns.
