Hello Fatshark.
Can the Bots please count as having field improvisation so that we can get grenades from the ammo boxes please?
Thx.
Hello Fatshark.

Unfortunately I have no faith whatsoever in bot improvements. They’ll probably be stuck as level 1 veterans with grey weapons and no talents until the end of the game.
Yep, the bots have needed a massive overhaul since the game released.
What I’d do is give vet bots like 1000HP and 500 toughness so they’re very tanky distractions.
Next give them maxed out weapons, preferably chainswords with max cleave blessings and las pistols with crit blessing so they’re general purpose and capable into most targets.
As for vet skills, have them copy a random vet tree from a player in the lobby, that’ll surely be better then having no skills.
it would be so good to have your other characters with their selected builds as bots in something unheard of… a single player mode.
or any talent for that matter lol
Don’t worry, Vermintide 2, the game Fatshark made after Darktide, has all that.
Yeah is kind of strange they downgraded bots in Darktide.
With the “Tertium 5” mod my Ogryn character has 700hp as a bot lmao.
The issue with bots is just that they didn’t work on their AI at all, unlike in Vermintide 2 where they are gods. In Darktide, even with this mod, maxed characters and weapons and all toughness regen talents, they perform awful. Reason being they don’t do 90% of what this game allows you to.
Bots don’t use abilities nor grenades at all, don’t push bursters, they don’t use weapon special nor heavy attacks, can’t carry meds/ammo/stimms for you, and the psyker bot doesn’t even use alt fire on the staves. It’s honestly depressing.
I hope they become servitors to clearly show they are “bots”. And yes they have tarantula turret pets, of course they do ;D
Ok maybe not, but having them be some kind of servitor would be thematic and cool.
Give them something like “hold ground” where they clamp down and just fill the corridors with led (MORE DAKKA!!!) Basically they turn into a turret and go ham.
Also let them have a “shelf” where you can place pickups to take later, letting them be pack mules.
There are a ton of things a “dumb drone” can do.
I wish fatshark made bots at least reasonably capable, I mean I played vermintide 2 exclusively with bots and occasionally 1 friend. But fatshark seems VERY adamant on “You WILL play with 4 real people and you WILL like it god dammit” for whatever reason.
Extremely bold to trust Fatshark AI with chain weapon special attacks ![]()
I foresee a march of the lemmings into every group of crushers as they face tank overheads doing their little sawing attacks.
if bots yelled they’d be good teammates. even without the gold toughness effect. that and 500 power weapons, if they get no blessings or perks you could at least give them gear power scaled to the difficulty so you don’t watch one slap a dreg around like 4 times with a heavy sword for a kill.
Anything to buff them I guess. I honestly have no idea what kind of damage they do since I play on xbox without the mods.
PS: I imagine a servitor with 500 power swords now ![]()
I mean, can we get the solo mode FS claimed on the Steam page was coming later? Then we can customize bots all we want.
Yeah probably lol, but idk what to give the bots then since they’re such bad fighters.
And then they’d be better than 75% of the veterans I see in Auric
Worst is that someone permitted us to use our own chars as bot… 2 years and half ago.
I should not take so long for Fatshark to copy paste the code?
But to be honest, and this I tested it, the easiest way to make bots GREAT and even better than a lot of players, is to give them a Boltgun (boltpistol works also) and a combat axe.
Bots, never use heavy hits. That’s why they cannot do anything more than dying with the devil’s claw…
To be fair. (And I’m only saying this because I see this argument a lot with a lot of games). Implementing a feature as a mod and implementing it into the actual game as the developer, are very different things. Completely different quality standards, and actually implementing something into the game will mean it needs to be implemented in a way where it won’t potentially break with future updates, needs to be formatted and commented well so when something does break someone can actually fix it, and etc. Not to mention opertunity cost and general organization.
Anyways I could go on all day but I just wanted to give Fatshark a tiny bit of credit at least. This wouldn’t be something that takes a intern a day to implement. More like a few devs a few weeks or a month + QA as well. And they do only have 180 employees, so probably like 60-120 devs (I won’t pretend to know how Fatshark is organized, there are various artists, managers, QA, and so on) most of who are probably already assigned to bigger things. So like I get it.
Tell me you haven’t played VT2 in awhile without telling me you haven’t played VT2 in awhile ![]()
We had a sweet spot where VT2 bots were good because there was a sanctioned mod to improve them. Even then they weren’t godlike, just “good enough to not be a handicap.” But since that mod was unsanctioned and the game has seen a lot of updates, the bots are in a pretty bad spot now. Especially in Chaos Wastes. With that said, at least we can select their talent+weapon loadouts, which makes a big difference, as every character has at least one loadout which a bot does okay with.
With VT2s age I’ve given up they’ll do anything significant to address the bot issues… for Darktide I think there is still hope ![]()
