Can havoc derank be removed? it'd be awesome

i’m pretty sure this has been talked about like 300 times but whatever

i’d really like to play havoc but i don’t want to deal with needing to rank up to 40 every “season” just to start having fun, its so tiring to do the exact same thing every update when all i want is to actually play the difficult content in this videogame, the only thing derank achieves is incentivizing people to play meta and to be more toxic

i don’t even know why seasons exist, i’d be entirely okay with derank if they just kept me at rank 40, i’d be playing havoc SOOO much more if i could just stay there and actually enjoy it

so yeah derank basically kills any interest i have in havoc and otherwise i’d be playing a lot of it

Keep it up. FS doesn’t seem to understand that we just want to play the damn game.

Edit: didn’t want to imply that’s the only thing they fail to grasp

Seasonality of your rank is pretty bad from perspective of players who don’t play the game at the all times. You actually want to play a lot at the beginning of the season, so you aren’t stuck climbing your ranks with randos who don’t play the game a lot.

100000000000000000000000000000000% agree :+1:

I can’t even get to h40 as host rank (whatever it’s called) because I can only play 1 game late at night with randoms. Often it’s a wipe because teammate rng so I end up being demoted and demoted despite having won many, many, many h40 games I can’t just host one.

I have a job and a child FFS. You need to be at it full time or with premades just to get to host h40.

Then it gets reset anyway!!!

I HATE DERANK. it’s anti-player swill.

Oh and if 1 player quits or drops out? You’re demoted because that is a guaranteed wipe.

ABYSMAL DESIGN. I HAAAAAATE IT!!!111

The system is frustrating but understandable.

I think the reason for deranking is that you stay on a level where you can win but not struggle too much. If there is no derank people will get to levels where they can only struggle and they will ruin the experience for themselves and everyone else.

All rewards should be removed from havoc so it could be a “for fun only” mode.

First game today I had a zealot troll who rushed infront pulled half the map and bosses laughed like a maniac and said hes a spy for the enemys.

Then I had a decent group and we had this on half the map.

There goes another havoc level…

You can only have a demote system if all else is actually in your control imo.

Yet another of those threads, think a second ahead and realize what happens if you allow everyone Havoc level 40: you don’t only have ppl who cannot play in the rank climbing phase but in havoc level 40 as well. You want that?

In fact, the derank system is actually very forgiving. In competitive ranked games, every loss decreases your rank. And when a player stops winning more often than losing, their rank growth ends there. But in Darktide Havoc, you can win only two out of seven games and still see your rating grow in the long run

Oh yeah! I’ll definitely be there with my level 19. Just out of curiosity

Only in theory. In practice it doesn’t work like this.

I am a long time player who has completed many h40 games, many of which without death and some without even a down.

Yet I can’t host a H40 because I don’t play with premades and can only play once late at night due to the time and 100% commitment that is required. The risk of demotion is not fair to other teammates if I’m not sure I will have time to finish the 1h+ mission. So by the time I get to host a H40 it will be time to f****ing reset the ranks again (pLaYeR rEtEnTiOn!).

So I’m very capable of h40. I get chosen for h40 often…but can I host a H40? Not a chance in hell. I just want to play h40 level of difficulty whenever without risk of ruining peoples games with demotion.

If gate keeping is required then they should add a new difficulty above auric (nightmare!) which is same difficulty as h40 so people can freely play or quickplay on normal maps if they like or have the choice to play via havoc if they want to live in imagination land where people use a rank system and don’t try and play above their skill level.

I imagine many people would stop playing via the havoc terminal…which would speak volumes.

It’s not a competitive game.

Forgiving? You must be joking. You can’t win 2 out of 7…? Because of you lose 3 then you start again a rank lower.

Any of you who say this kind of thing - ever play with randoms? Clearly not if you genuinely believe the rank system keeps higher skilled players at higher ranks lol. That is an absolute fantasy.

You’re all playing premades if you genuinely think that.

I have some games where the other 3 teammates wipe within 1-3 minutes on h40…and that was a host with h40 host rank. And no I can’t clutch on h40 because that is impossible with ogryn, so I wipe too of course as I’m swamped by enemies. That’s a lost rank. Then we try again because maybe it was a fluke…same thing happens. Once more and it’s a wipe and rank lost.

Have someone rage quit or disconnect mid h40? That’s a wipe. Have a fs potato net code crash? That’s a strike gone.

The system is abysmal and it’s boiling my blood that people argue that it keeps skill levels in their place. It does no such thing.

The only problem about derank that bothering me - is unfair derank (mission abort problem). This is why i start play new havoc season from 1.9.1 and why i try to ignore rotten armour modifier (bleed death crash).

But in 3 days we recieve our 40 maps and forgot about derank at all.

maybe there would actually be people in my party finder if they removed derank lmao, it’d be great

Winning two games raises you by two ranks, while losing five lowers you by one rank, leaving you just one step away from a second drop. So if you win twice out of every seven games, that results in a systematic increase in rank.

The odds of success in a single match are poor precisely because, in the current system, rank growth stops for a player who loses three times for every victory. If rank dropped after every single defeat, the chances of winning any given match would already rise to 50–50. And if, for example, the system were reversed—three wins required for a rank increase, but only one loss for a rank drop—then the chance of success in a single match would rise to 75%.

And yet there are still loads of low skill players at high havoc and some even have h40 host status.

It doesn’t work as a system and merely restricts people who don’t have premades or oodles of time to brute force grind it.

Greetings Rejects,
Havoc de-ranking will continue until morale improves.
That is all. Standby to standby.

reminds me of several individuals that I can name off the top of my head. (or off my blocklist)

They insist “I just can’t enjoy playing with people that can’t keep up with my pace” or “its your fault for not keeping up.”

You’ll run into them & learn to block them. Just one of the perks of co-op games I suppose.

Your reasoning would make sense if the block list wasn’t limited.

Plus the fear of de-ranking changes how people are playing havoc.
