And when we talk Premades then that does matter. When we however talk the current state of the game where you can be dropped into ongoing matches with no chance of altering your loadout, you can end up in matches with only close range options.
I also would say that the Veteran, the Class that is given Talents to highlight specials and additional long range damage talents, is the one suited to fit that role a lot better than a Zealot who gets neither the ability to highlight specials and elites beyond tagging, nor any sort of talent to boost their long range damage. Instead their Talents are meant to boost the close range damage. And it would be a bit strange if they shouldnāt lean into that, just because the Veteran doesnāt want to do their job.
Ogryns, you even admit yourself, lack the long range options by default and Psyker, again is likely not going to show up with a gun, but a Stave⦠most of which are rather short ranged. Brain Burst will do some work here, but once more⦠the lack of innate ability to highlight Specials and Elites and with that remove the āwhere is Waldoā aspect of trying to locate where that Bomber is throwing from still leaves the Veteran the most capable for this role on the team. Meanwhile the Psyker, could and probably should, focus their Brain Burst attention on Crushers and Bulwarks. Having the ability to reliably damage them and open the shield of the Bulwark making it a lot more hassle free for the Team to engage said enemies.
And sure, what you do in your Premade is your business. You can have your gimped close range Veteran with the gimped long range Zealot, and the Veteran highlights the enemies for the team, while doing the Zealots job of fighting in close to mid range⦠leaving the Zealot to do a worse job at the Veteranās jobā¦
Or you know⦠you could just not play Veteran to play in Close and Midrange, if that is what you feel like and play Ogryn, Psyker or Zealot, who are better suited for the task.
