It’s actually a fun concept. I like it. I used it for a few penances, but I tried to actually use it as much as possible. It was nice being able to turn it on to soak gunfire and pick them off or move into melee. Its electro-bursts actually give it decent utility.
The problem is, ofc, that it uses grenades. As everyone says, it needs to just be changed to using capacitance. It could also have a cooldown; not just that it needs power, but that the shield generator needs to cool off.
Or you could give Skitty a node that lets it regen grenades. I actually think that would be very useful for every one of its blitzes. Perhaps only a problem for Medicae skull, but there’s always the option of locking the Medicae skull if you pick this talent.
Yah the auto-regenerate talent is already overused after Veteran self&team autocrate then the tag along Arbites node… auto regenarative blitz like Psyker & Rock not unheard of though…
Skitarii is a new kind unique though in having to stretch to a blitz if you really want it… and invest many talents into a charge system… its in a weird position…
I don’t like it, either, but I feel like the skull is not OP, yet completely overshadows the others due to having infinite uses versus 3 for Arc Grenade and bubble. They can buff the 'nades to high-heavens and they either become game-breakingly powerful (like Scum) or they forever remain in the shadow of the skull. Which sounds more ominous than it actually is.
I’d really rather not. I think they should just need to make it and the flamer skull cost capacitance, have a short CD maybe so they can’t be spammed, then leave grenade pickups for medicae (it might need a charge less) and arc grenades (could maybe use 1 more charge, not sure, I find them pretty strong so far just very very slow to detonate).
Funny thing is they did show imagination for noospheric command but then just kinda forgot about it for the shield and flamer skull.
I think emitter shield, and emitter shield only, should regenerate after like X % of capacitance regenerated, say like 1000% or something. The rest I’m fine with costing grenades.
I see certain tools on those classes as “get out of the jail free cards”. Not all grenades are the same. Vet is allowed to spam frags, kraks for steady source of damage. Ogryn Frag, Hive scum rockets, Arc nades, allow you to nuke a ritual, decimate a sudden surge of elites on screen, instantly. You can make space for a revive or to get out from otherwise game ending situation in a matter of a key press.
If Fatshark allows those tools into the game in the first place, then there should restrictions on how many of those you get. There is only so many cheat codes you should be allowed in the game.
I have not seen them be this useful yet. They’ll take 1/3-1/2 the health off Crushers, mess up Maulers - but not kill them. Things below them, yeah. Killing four Shotgunners isn’t that impressive to me, for . As setup for Arc Rifle, sometimes. Every exploding grenade buys you some space or time, but these are very much at the lower end of quality for that.
That’s the issue; there’s zero reason to take them instead of the Servo-Skull.
You probably want to apply “Electrocute” status first for the best results. Arc nades destroy lighter elites, and with how the current AI director setup (which loves throwing light elite waves), they serve a purpose. Not everything has to be Hive Scum blitz nonsense level.
Did someone? I specifically said they should be exempted, I think. Though it doesn’t really make any sense, logically (at least Arc Grenades make sense somewhat in this way), that can’t be unlimited.
@JanZamoysky I was meaning that saying that buffed arc grenades would be on the same level of broken as Boom Bringer was hypberole.
they’re obviously saying it because it’s nonsensical, what exactly is the servo skull doing with the grenade for it to be able to revive someone?
tie it to some other sort of limited thing, but not grenade pickups probably. maybe stimms?
not really you could literally just give it a set amount of charges and it’d average to roughly the same limitations without being total nonsense. and yes it is nonsensical, why would grenades power a servo skull. i get liberties must be taken for game design but that’s a hard sell for anyone who actually cares about the logic behind what we’re doing a little bit.
you could even tie a recharge to medicae stations or something to that effect.
not sure what about hive scum you even mean that is even comparable to this btw
