Bring back Endless Horde Modifier

Hey Fatshark,

Please bring back Endless Horde modifier, I really enjoyed it, should honestly be one of the permanently available modifiers on the auric board.

I completely forgot about this modifier until saw a vid from november 2022.

If people don’t like it (like I don’t like the train mission) just manually select a mission instead of QP if it’s on the missions/board, so I don’t really see a reason why not to add it.

Was it ever a modifier in DT? They had “Send in the Next Wave” as a deed modifier in VT2 and that was one of my favorite, especially glitching it up to cata. Gave you two seconds of breathing room between waves.

The problem these days, and hopefully one that can be overcome somehow, is that with crossplay enabled and mandatory it must be able to run smoothly on even the most limiting processor involved and the high number of entities is trouble for them.

It has never been confirmed but it is strongly suspected that that is why they shifted from a large-horde with very few but stronger elites to a smaller-horde with loads of weaker elites game design. They are far fewer total entities that need pathing resolutions and all the other computations involved.

I believe consoles can’t handle the sheer volume of models properly, so the modifier was removed. If FS will perform a miracle and hyperoptimize the game then we could potentially see it again.

That’s is not our problem. If those branded toasters cannot handle it, then the modifier should be made available only on PC. I’m not a massive fan of xplay anyway. The vast majority of console players simply cannot keep up.

Surely such a move cannot possibly backfire in any negative way for FS.

What kind of move? Restricting specific difficulty modifiers to PC only due to console power limitations? You would have to be quite special to blame Fatshark for that.

There was a High Intensity Hordes condition for a few weeks before the great doggening, and High Intensity became High Intensity everything after.

the endless horde special condition was cool, even more when there was the endless horde bug where it was actually endless which was cool.

it should come back to the game again.

Its coming in Havoc Orders game mode iirc

i hope
but i also hope to see it in the normal mission board as well

Endless horde was just a bug. This being said, I really want endless hordes and also shock troop endless horde.

Please Fatshark, do it. You can even put this in maelstrom.

There are 1 or 2 maelstrom modifiers that are not really putting enough pressure (and melee one is really bad designed with so many carapace, it is just boring). This one would really be perfect for a maelstrom… Even if I would prefer seeing it implemented as a general condition.

it was a special condition that was used to send lot of more hordes than normal.
sometimes you could get an endless horde bug, which would sent hordes infinitely without a cooldown which was very cool.

not sure if the endless horde modifier became the new hi intensity engagement zone but it doesn’t seem to be case, because hordes there barely spawns.

it was a condition that has been deleted.

sadly it’s also because of consoles, the number of hordes/enemies has been decreased.

And this was the true endless horde… And it was SO satisfying.

Yep I made a thread asking the same and so did another 4-5 people at the very least.

It was the most fun I’ve had in DT in a very long time. It was so fun, in fact, that I played absolutely nothing else the entire time it was active. Not even the new train map.

I was devastated when it got removed.

Back to hunting grounds and sniper gauntlet pish :face_vomiting:

The fact that the Moebian hordes was released only recently and without issues, I think proves this is no longer the case.

They did a few optimisation patches recently and seemingly did a good job with them. (Apart from creating rubber banding even with low density which I still can’t figure out how to fix…)

but honestly moebian hordes didn’t seem to be that much either for what i reckon. compared to the true endless horde bug, it was a lot more. i remember the early days that was so full of hordes, which was ultra fun.

i could replay moebian hordes special condition with solo play and check again, but it didn’t feel like the true horde endless bug sadly.

which was a common request from players to add it in the game as feature. but i guess if they didn’t was because of performance reasons for console users.

game lacks a lot of hordes, especially now with broken horde spawns

lot of crowd control weapons in a game with very few hordes in density in auric damnation

Do you talk about endless hordes that existed a long time ago? the endless horde that were existing on heresy as a bug? or armored newly infected enemies so unrelenting hordes (moebian infected groaners)?
The last, had nothing to do with endless hordes. It was just hordes with a new enemy (chaos_armored_infected)

Yeah they weren’t endless per se but at least 100% more density than usual hordes and much less relenting.

At least we know that consoles can handle the Moebian hordes so they could easily make it a normal condition.

If endless hordes are not possible then that’s the best alternative. It was super fun.
