Aliens Fireteam literally has the bots be militarised Working Joe androids.

Worthless. You get no progression with that mod.

I’ve long thought that bots should not be normal Rejects but standard Inquisitorial Guardsmen. I mean, we see them around, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be taking part in any mission ever.

Adding to my own idea; put the bots in normal Guardsmen armor, and why not create some unique bot talents and stuff? Like, make them usable if not as good as most players. Don’t alter their combat ability, but give them some advantages, because as it is I find that they are actively a detriment and don’t even want to revive them if they go down. That’s too far down the “useless” tree.

But if they were immune to AoEs like fire and gas, and they could maybe do one insta-revive per run/player, maybe some minor buffs that help players . . . that would be nice. Not nicer than a competent teammate, but it would mean you’re not screwed when someone inevitably dips instantly after going down.

Imagine if they all had Voice of Command with the revive perk…

I’m joking, but only partially. Why don’t they have a full talent tree? They give you the ammo regen aura…

Giving them better weapons, and some abilities/talents would be good.

Auras, etc.

I vote them to be regular soldiers and servitors.

Well… as much as I play with bots, I don’t care to make them player-powered. They should really facilitate the <4 player experience rather than be a player stand-in imo. If you want to play with fewer humans that’s on you – fine.

But… the stupidity… it makes them worse, in a few ways, to having an empty slot. Poxbursters become much more dangerous because they will shoot them indiscriminately, and not push them properly. They’ll pick up ammo, so they can shoot bursters more. Honestly the fact that they shoot them, but not to kill, sets a really poor example for other players. It shows there is some logic here, but not enough… They hog medicae, double or triple-dipping while standing in gun/fire. They will backtrack exceedingly far for medicae, and yet not use it if they are only 1/3 hurt despite there being full charges. They will get stuck in light hordes, going down often.

What they can do quite well is hold a flank against regular horde enemies – that’s all I expect of them anyway. Not to be an elite/special sniper, or spam gold toughness. Just stay alive, kill some poxwalkers, keep up, and a little character banter now and then.

How’s this for starters:

  • Give them Infiltrate so they can regroup easily. Teleport on a tether for all I care.
  • Implement the doggy double-ping system for medicae so they won’t drink without permission.
  • Give them infinite ammo so they don’t snatch pickups.
  • Allow them to push (especially poxbursters).
  • Prevent them from shooting poxbursters.

I’d vote just teleporting on a tether, but I support all of those other ones. It’s not like they spam plasma gun fire, they just slowly shoot lasguns most of the time, plinking away at stuff. I do not think it would make them overpowered (or even good) if they had infinite ammo.

I’d go with pew pew servoskulls at this point ^^

Bot don’t seem to be designed to understand incoming ranged attacks. The game also fails from having a proper cover system.

Melee combat kind of sticks its foot into the range system combat. Kiting and toughness regen require room to operate. Improving the range combat to include cover means players could hide behind cover, this idea fails when FSs solution to increasing difficulty is just vomit more enemies on the map.

Now introduce bots to this equation and yea… where does FS begin.

I love this idea. Give them a cinematic feel, have them interact with the environment. It always bugged me those Guardsmen standing around when we deploy. It would be epic if they started with us and died off during the mission.

Bots in a nutshell:

(I did this one… hehehe).

The bots were barely functional when the game came out. Never mind now after years of multiple balancing, reworks, weapon changes, new enemy additions etc. The already barebones bots remained the same. If they received any improvements? If have yet to fing notice them.

They’re now worthless on lower difficulties let alone Auric level missions. This bullet sponge event made that already obvious crap even more obvious.

This game’s been neglected for years and the bots are just another example of that.

Bots are bad cause they have bad weapons. They can’t defend themselves with a headhunter and a catachan sword.

They suffer also a lack of talents, they just have survivalist.

But my main actual concern are these players that try to revive bots… because bots are also the first to waste a medic station charge, to be on floor etc. They are a danger for the team. Player should have learnt, by now, that they should let them die and never untie them. Let them captured. That’s the best place where they cannot hurt you….

Because they also like to shoot at poxburster…

At least they bring ammo aura and don’t abandon you on the ground, latter already puts them above the average quickplay goon.

I’ve been pissed about the bot situation for years. Ever since they promised solo mode with bots, like we have in VT2.
