BoP 1 step forward 2 steps back

I like the new BoP from a mechanical perspective. You can do everything you used to, but now you have to think about it a little bit.

It does feel a little bit wierd though, to be reloading two shots at a time into single-shot pistols.

Never intended for this to be a whine thread as I stated near the top. Of course you can’t keep the train on the rails cause’ internet.

Anyways to reiterate

I just miss the whacky machine gunning and im not ashamed to admit that while silly that it was just alot of fun.

I’m learning like everyone else to adjust to the new reality.

Fatshark gonna do what fatshark gonna do. I’m pretty sure they have got the message.

Let’s see what happens.

I get that OP is missing his full-auto shenanigans, but they were hugely limiting to the weapon; they couldn’t be made stronger, or else they’d be just far too strong - their burst DPS against everything but bosses was bonkers. Stormvermin patrols were literally nothing to 1.3 BoP. And you can still fire off a dozen handguns before needing to reload.

I’m quite a fan of BoP, and honestly I didn’t even find them bad with the reload, prior to boss damage getting buffed. Now they’re extremely strong again, but at least have some disadvantages. Even from a flavor perspective, I rather like it - and yeah, he reloads them quite fast, but every ranged weapon in nearly every video game ever made is that way. Overall, I’m really happy with the BoP currently.

As for the repeaters; while they’re fantastical, they’re not as fantastical as you might think. Volley guns were a real thing, and some could be fired singly, with a rotating chamber (though it had to be manually rotated). Others could fire off all barrels in sequence or at nearly the same time by row ignition. I think they just made them auto-rotate in this game, and made the characters manually spin them simply for the cool factor.

Some pics:

Oh, and repeater crossbows are a real thing, though rare and still had to be manually repeated, unlike Saltzpyre’s and Shade’s. Rule of cool!

But clearly the new weapon that Saltzpyre NEEDS is the middle one here.

Auto-fire crossbows did in fact exist.

The repeating crossbow (Chinese: 連弩; pinyin: Lián Nŭ ) is a Chinese crossbow that was invented during the warring states period, and remained in use until the late Qing dynasty. The repeating crossbow combined into a one-handed movement, the actions of stringing the bow, placing the bolt and shooting, thus allowing for a much higher rate of fire than a normal crossbow. A top-mounted magazine containing a reservoir of bolts fed the crossbow through gravity, and the mechanism was worked by moving a rectangular lever forward and backward.

It is also known as the Zhuge crossbow (Chinese: 諸葛弩; pinyin: Zhūgé nǔ , also romanized Chu-ko-nu ) due to its association with the Three Kingdoms-era strategist Zhuge Liang (181–234 AD)

Brace of Pistols mate.

Anyway, currently they are v. strong vs everything, maybe a bit too strong vs bosses so a slight nerf in here might prove adequate, but at least finally we feel they have some power, before you just shot 30 times, saw the health drop little by little, and unless using str potion, nothing really fun happened. Lelf could get the same effect firing 8 arrows from longbow at the head and still have a ton of ammo left.

My main issue with the new interation of the BoP is the reload speed. Compared to how fast you can unload your “brace”, reloading takes them literally forever. I don’t mind the whole reload schenanigens (not happy with it, but I can live with it), but to put the BoP into a better spot, I would recommend increasing the reload speed.

I actually like the “oh sh t sh t sh t sh t” feeling of reloading while the boss charges at you. And then blam, ult, and 12 shots to the head and the bastard goes down. Hell yeah

On boss its better now to fire 12 rounds and then go melee while you still have those buffs from ulti/pots.

You can infinitely dodge away from any number/type of enemies while you reload, lol. I had a funny clutch on Skittergate out on the ice just before you fight Gatekeeper Naglfahr, where there’s that ammo box that spawns every match. I was playing WHC and dodged in a circle around that rock formation, unloading my 12 rounds or smacking some enemies with my axe & falchion as the situation called for. Took out a cw patrol + 3 hordes + specials with that. Old brace of pistols would not have been as useful in that situation, when you want to keep dodging the legion of enemies chasing you, and also want to pick off specials.

It is a 1-shot on packmasters on bodyshots. I think the powerlevel is fine where it’s at, though.

No they’re not, they’re pretty weak against most things.

The only thing weaker on a shot by shot basis is the Repeater but thats got almost instant reload and the Charged Shots one shots anything Including CWs if you’re BH, and you get 3 back from Scrounger, so you never run out of ammo.

Volley One Body Shots everything including Maulers on a Tag short of a CW. X-Bow One Shots anything that’s armored, and even Packmasters on body shots. BoP is really weak, and you blow your clip on anything not a special. On top of that you kill a good 4 per shot in a horde on Volley or X-Bow.

BoP is quite literally the weakest one the only exception really is a Boss Mob and there its comparable to Volley Charged Shots.

They’re actually the WORST weapon now to use with WHC, because they can’t be utilized in conjunction with the Ult. The only one that can be is the Repeater because it reloads fast enough before the Ult Expires.

Do you really think fat shark made this change because of what ONE PERSON posted on reddit? FFS just consider that for two seconds. Lots of other people chimed in and at the end of the day fatshark makes the call.

Also, lots of other folks (myself included) are happy with the new brace, or are mostly happy and want a few more minor tweaks. You sound like you don’t want to adjust your playstyle and are throwing a blame game fit about it.

Maybe he has a bug and using the ult prevents him from switching weapons after firing?

funny in vt1 with haste trait u can have 60+ ammo lel.

BoP after the monster damage buff is insanely overpowered. With strength potion, it can easily outdamage shade or any other DPS class, making any Saltzpyer class really overpowered. Combined with the his new dual wield weapons, Saltzpyer has now effectively become the most powerful class in this whole game. I believe the damage.

If witch hunter with BoP+potion outdamages Shade with daggers+potion then there is something terribly wrong with the Shade player. Dual weapons are OP to sell the DLC. Class is not OP.

It can’t outdamage shade.

mpst of the ranged weapon behave in a totally ridiculous fashion. Gunpowder weapons that dont use powder, crossbows that have a 1lb draw, but fire out to several hundred meters with lethal force, kerrilians longbow load animation is flat out physically impossible.
things dont have to be real or even possible its a game it just needs to be consistant with the world and fit a gameplay reason in a balanced way.

my suggestion for the bop , 6 shot no reload low range terrible accuracy can bodyshot anything bar CW.
but then i dont like range weapons and think they make the game worse so i basically want them all but removed so i doubt that would be popular
