Bolt Pistol is a scam

Punches trough allies and covers, but doesn’t even punch trough a single groaner unlike his rifle counterpart

so its not only inferior in damage to the stub revolver, (like the boltgun), but also puncture less than a lasgun even if you line up the perfect critical headshot on the weakest enemy

if you add the very limited ammo capacity on top of that i don’t need to go further

i play it with the Psyker since it has more tools at his disposal to win a fight, but i won’t meddle with it with Zealot or Emperor forbid Veteran

It’s a pretty worthless weapon for any class, tbh.

I have to agree, it’s extremely underwhelming. Using it feels like it was put in the hands of a child who can’t handle it. The recoil is waaaaayyy too extreme and add the jittering aftereffects on top and it’s so inaccurate that you can’t reliably land even semi-accurate shots in vaguely rapid succession. The magazine should be 10 rounds, maybe 12 and it should be able to consistently one shot poxwalkers and it’s goofy that it doesn’t. The revolver outclasses it in every regard besides mag capacity and is functionally what a bolt pistol should be.

This gun has animations like:

ESPECIALLY when u fire after use special ability

ye it took them so long to release and they still forgot to add cleave, or at least that’s my take

Yeah throw in the animations as another point of criticism, they look awful both in 1st and 3rd person. It’s like what a kind thinks weapon recoil looks like where your entire arm bends at the elbow and it just looks cartoonish. Then the posture and movement animations in 3rd person look wonky and goofy as hell to boot.

i’m fine with the recoil, and the flip animation on the magazine, i just don’t buy the ass aiming platform, they thought they would be cool, and i admit it is, but you have so fiew ammo already and you end up missing 50% of your shots, while aiming

i admit i was thrilled to learn how to get good with this cool weapon, but when i’ve learned about the no cleave caviat i’ve stopped and made this thread

Im dont understand this FLIP MAG animations. Why?

In first time seenin this i like:

But then:

I’m not saying it shouldn’t be a punchy recoil, but should your hand really fly up and point the barrel almost straight to the sky? Seems silly to me. The flip mag reload I don’t care about really beyond the fact that you can see rounds in the magazine you’re throwing away even though it should be empty.

thats the animation from when you are shooting from the hip, and its sensible that it would behave that way, i think its more stable when you aim (problem is when you aim is more stable but less accurate)

EDIT

ye i agree, 3d person animations are pretty ass in general

It’s both but there’s a difference between the 1st and 3rd person ones. Sure, ADSing and firing in 1st person looks pretty reasonable but check how it looks in 3rd or when someone else is firing it and it looks cartoonish.

I don’t know why we had sword and gun in VT2 but not in DT.
The bolt pistol is clearly meant to be wielded besides a melee weapon.
Other reasons are not there.
Maybe it does not translate to Console controllers well?
Or the ranged power in addition to the “normal” Ranged weapon would put off the balance? I don’t care better than an underwhelming dead weight.

Or the Bolt pistol is just a way to give a Bolt weapon to the Psyker?

I agree with this. I’d have preferred that the bolt pistol was the special for one of the commisar-ish melee weapons. At least them there’d be a reason for it to be as ass as it is.
