Blackout game mode is c@ncer

There is a slight Lightsource around your character!

Just pick a Weapon with Flashlight, or a Flashlight with a FLashlight ^^

I like the mode for it’s denser atmosphere but enemies should see less as well and actively use light sources to search us. That would make it even better.

As long as modifiers are up you don’t like - don’t QP. Demanding the elemination of modifiers others might enjoy is the wrong solution to your problem. There are many modifiers I personally don’t like - but I know others do, so I just don’t QP either as long as any of them is online (which is more or less all the time)

Blackout mode is probably my favourite modifier, and I usually play Psyker or Ogryn so don’t even have a flashlight.

I love Blackout mode. It does require you to know the map layout roughly. But honestly it transforms the game and really gives the grim dark element and fear that I can imagine from fighting in the hive.

It is especially most weapons cannot be customized with flashlight, for example: the Ogryn…

I like blackout. Gotta combine it with ventilation purge.
Only a pity that enemy snipers don’t seem to have that problem. If enemies actually had lower range as well, and couldn’t be spotted at range, it’d be a nice atmosphere.
I certainly prefer this kind of difficulty to ‘moAr bUlleTspOnges’. :man_shrugging:

I love blackout maps and always do them without a light source. What you describe here is just isn’t true, you can see well up until a certain distance and there are some lights even on blackout maps.

You can also use the darkness to your advantage so instead of pulling a gunner team from across the map maybe try to just walk up to them. The enemy agro range is reduced by a lot in these maps. Torches on the other hand will alert enemies to your presence…

Game mode is fine, a nice added difficulty setting, and you have the option not to play it. Horde eyes (and probably a few more enemies) glow in the dark and enemy agro radius is greatly reduced (shooters far less of a pain, for instance). Just gotta watch out for the DH’s.

I love missions in the dark.

It completely changes how teammates play, sticking close to each other. I like that.

i couldn’t agree more, it’s nice twist that makes you change up the way you play.

I hate matcha tea, but you don’t see me going around calling it c@ncer. Relax, you don’t like it, and that’s fine. Let others that do enjoy it.

Some of us enjoy the atmosphere and the extra challenge, especially in auric high int or monstrous specialist T5s.

But that’s the best part of it? Pitch black/night firefights makes my inner grunt rock hard. Would love to get a NV mechanic down the line, even if only tied to a class or weapon.

They already do, as Nish below you said, just turn off your flashlight. Enemy aggro is pulled at vanilla ranges if you run around with it on. . . or if you’re a sadomasochist like me keep it on, long ranged firefights in the dark are a delight, expecially if you’re not running executioner’s stance vet. It’s also a wonderland for melee specialist crackheads ballsy enough to go full on edgelord Bane and embrace the dark.

Black out is good for variety. Yeah it can be very difficult and even frustrating but that is just how things can be. Combat conditions are not always gonna be ideal Lol

the idea is neat, the implementation is yuck.

  • both ally & enemies need the same consistent downsides.
  • all players need a lightscource at all times
  • make it more extreme, darkness = pitchblack, iluminated area VERY bright. so that your flashlight cuts through the darkness

Like this just remove the partial shade and only have the direct light cone.

It is, just turn off your flashlight for more than a minute, enemies get aggroed at vanilla ranges if they spot you running around with it on. Turn it on after you’re engaged if you really must, otherwise know the maps and keep it off.

Though I’d definitely appreciate some more ambient, low lighting, and moody emergency light type stuff in more maps, and map sections.

I can also understand people getting frustrated with it especially if they’re experiencing it for the first time post P13 since audio cues and SFX buffering has been busted since then. More so in modes with high spawn rates which can make things way harder, especially if you’re not spinning like a ballerina for the entire run to keep crap from playing grab-ass with you.

This is where weapon customization was going to play a huge part in mission modifiers. Which I still think we need.

Their eyes glow, but it would be cool to see some with flashlights…

Played this mode with a group of friends over the weekend and it was amazing!

The aesthetics are incredible. Watching a horde poxdudes with bobbling green eyes come at you is incredible, and most if not all enemies seem to be distinct in the dark – credit to the designers.

Gameplay-wise I feel a little unprepared for the dark (and keep mashing the flare button – DRG reflexes!). It’s not like I would bring a flashlight to my quickplays, but if I don’t know the map like the back of my hand then it feels too hard to navigate with not a lot of mitigating factors. I’ve got 200 hours in the game, and the only map I haven’t struggled to navigate in the dark is the new one – go figure. Maybe slightly buff the default torch?

I would also like to see a more dynamic dark environment with more lighting effects across the classes. Explosions, power weapons, and guns should give off additional light. Not for navigating purposes (shooting just to see, oh no!) but because I want to be the lightning in a dark storm (of bullets)! I’m imagining a hallway full of monsters flashing in and out of vision as explosions send them flying.

Might increase the need for an opt-out for epilepsy though…

Gotta agree, the No lights mode is really not my thing, literally avoid playing it at all cost

I would like spawned a sort of portable lantern/torch a bit like the torches in the dark levels of Vermintide
