Blacklist and Disabling Crossplay

You keep saying all MS then half, you’re confusing me and I keep saying consoles are the issue.

You honestly think MS is going to let this company segregate their own playerbase? Their literal selling point is “play anywhere.” That is, swap from console, phone, to PC. They literally get money monthly from having the game on gamepass, and PC sales have clearly peaked.

You’re making yourself into a strawman, you don’t need my help.

Disable crossplay.

Where have I heard that before…

The PC and console communities are oil and water. Crossplay is a negative feature for games. The only people who benefit are the small subset of players who are IRL friends but who haven’t adopted common platforms.

Not for all of them. But crossplay in shooters (especially in competitive. Thankfully darktide isnt one of them, but still, it is a coop game) is known to have issues with how players preform. Either console users get dumped on by m+kb or console users dumped on m+kb thanks to legal aimbot.

One thing I’ve been curious about, but never bothered to ask, is are people seeking a universal opt out (i.e. only matchmake with people on the same storefront and platform) or just a platform opt out (i.e. only matchmake with PC)?

personally i´d be for platform opt out, since it at least guarantees the availability of input devices / makes it more likely to have m&k as dominant devices.

Ah, okay. Although, it does make me think of something else - if I’m not mistaken, I believe Halo Infinite allows matchmaking based on input device. I can’t remember exactly what it offered, but I do remember you on Xbox being allowed to opt out of matching against KB+M users - I wonder if that kind of system would be a more useful solution (if a solution were to be implemented)

Still waiting for a way to opt-out of crossplay, or better yet make it opt-in.

Just the influx of the… “XBOX kids”. Y’know, the ones who are Level 30 Ogryns and somehow still die 5 times on Sedition, whilst all of my Level 30 characters can virtually solo Malice while I’m DRUNK. Yeah, I’ve seen the former happen while helping my XBOX friend play, luckily it wasn’t him who kept dying… for his sake.

I would like the option for parities sake but I wouldn’t ever use it. I do think a large part of this is that Xbox players haven’t had the time as a group to fully acclimate to DT, so aren’t as good because of that. And when people lose games because of it (even though I’ve encountered my fair share of awful PC players) they blame Xbox.

All in all I’m happy that we have crossplay with Xbox, and having more people to play the game will help ensure a much longer lasting and active community. Hopefully with time the Xbox playerbase, or more fairly all the new players we got from patch 13 will slowly acclimate to the skill level required, or at the very least go to the difficulties they should be playing at lol.

I like crossplay because I can finally play with my friends who play on XBOX! Randoms are a bit more… eh… but with time those randoms should get better at playing the game, and therefore better to play with!

With the changes to spawn behavior and meta I think the game is harder to learn than it was on launch, and people in general have been unfair to the Xbox community. Part of this is brought on themselves as there are people who aren’t good enough to play Auric who que up for it which can be frustrating, but I think expecting everyone to be Darktide experts after 2 months now. It took me longer to learn the game well enough to play at the level I do now.

I do my best to try and help XBOX players wherever I can, they need an experienced guiding hand if we’re to bring them up to scratch quicker.

@Khorne_Dawg , and @dragomusic i completely get where y’all are coming from. My brother, nephew and myself all played both Vermintide, so we understood the base mechanics before we played, plus we also love 40k, so we watched the game for the last year waiting to play, and we have had SERIOUS issues with some Xbox kids who think this is CoD and they’re going to “360 no scope noobs” with the level 23 vet that they haven’t finished putting their talent points into with their grey weapons……so I completely understand. I absolutely hope you guys get the option, it will just suck for us because some of us who want to do the harder content….will still be forced to group with the mouth breathers and window lickers. Just makes me sad to think about lol

23 vet that they take into heresy high intensity hunting grounds

I’m happy to stand by youse until everyone’s used to it! I’m a PC (Steam) Player and I personally don’t care for the individual option to disable crossplay, but I do understand the argument in favour of it. I’d even be happy to do all of this coaching again if PlayStation somehow gets the game, but I’ve got a nagging hunch that has me doubting that will ever happen.

→ Imagine not hard carrying games 24/7
→ Imagine blaming others for your mission losses
→ Imagine uninstalling over the occasional, rare console player

Total L take, Sam.

This is such a weak and often repeated illogical argument.
We’ve ALL seen our fair share of awful PC players, I’ve seen my fair share of awful HIGH overlevel player too.
Two things can be true at once and the ratios matter.
E.G. If the split is 80/20 then that matters.

If 80% of xboxers I’ve encountered are really bad to the point of being a liability in high diff missions, I’m not gonna ignore that because I’ve also seen very bad PC players.

If 80% of very new players I’ve encountered are really bad to the point of being a liability in high diff missions, I’m not gonna ignore that because I’ve also seen very bad high level players.

Well by all means, since you’d like the option too as you stated, you can play with them. I’d most likely opt out and save myself having to constantly run into them on HiSTG and curiously more on Maelstrom.

It’s a bit more than frustrating as it’s very common.
Honestly if I’m in a Mael or HiSTG lobby and I see xbox I’m more than likely blocking them so I don’t immediately bump into them and re-queuing.
I still can’t wrap my brain around why they’re more prevalent on HiSTG and even more Mael.

It’s been two months and there hasn’t been a noticeable shift, certainly not from the xboxers. In fact, it got worse given the AI Director’s doubled bloodlust.
