Been playing Helldivers 2 recently and

I thought the same thing… we have enough rapid firing light armor pen primaries now thank you.

Unless it lowers weapon sway it will still be middling at best imo.

I agree that the Purifier is a total waste of time, but the Tenderizer is really good, even without medium armor penetration. It has some of the best horde clearing capabilities of all the primaries with good accuracy, low recoil and high base damage. It’s a go to for me on Helldive all the time. The Pummeler is not to be disregarded either. It can stunlock all manner of powerful medium-sized enemies (devastators, stalkers, brood commanders, etc) whilst still packing a decent punch.

And let’s be real here, we’re already seeing most weapons in the game not being used as they haven’t found a good spot in the balance game for them. Do we really want or need even more? Personally I don’t think we need any more new weapons unless they bring something actually new to the table. I’d rather they took their time to actually cook up something new and interesting than just spewing out large quantities of meh, which is kinda what’s been happening. I get that another Liberator was probably not on anyone’s wishlist, including mine, but I can still see this one being useful if it’s anything like I think it will be and after their balance pass. Time will tell of course, but I don’t mind it as there isn’t really anything, save for perhaps the Knight (which most people don’t have access to), in the niche it seems to occupy.

To my understanding that is what that would mean. The ergonomics/handling effect involves the responsiveness of the aim as well as the stability.

I’d be interested to see what they set the price of it to though. It is smaller in overall size but I think its net offering of novelty is higher than previous ones.

How I have always seen handling represented in video games is swap speed, and ads time. Never anything related to accuracy.

We have an armor passive that reduces weapon sway more when crouching or prone. If this armor passive actually always reduces weapon sway it will just be a straight up upgrade.

Not the accuracy per se, but you know how some weapons aim kinda drags when you move it around and some stay centered on the spot you’re aiming at? That’s what I’m referring to. My interpretation of what they said in the blogpost is that that will be improved by that perk, which would be different from the one you’re talking about, which also gives you a 50% damage reduction from explosions.

Would be interesting to see that. I just wish they weren’t so damn vague with all the boosters, and each booster has like 30 weird side effects the description just doesn’t tell you at all.

Swedes have a thing for obfuscating data I swear to god.

Yeah if I’m understanding it correctly and that is actually what it means, then that has the potential to make some guns super useful. The Dominator for example is the punchiest primary in the game but its handling is slow as hell. If you could make its handling super tight and responsive, allowing you to make quick headshots left right and center, that’d be a real helpful thing. But I guess we’ll see. I’m hopeful. AH hasn’t given me nearly as much cause to doubt as a certain other studio.

And yeah, it must be that Swedish aloofness. They’re not much for talking in general from my experience.

They murdered my baby Eruptor in the crib. That’s all the cause I need to doubt them.

Also I believe my Darktide cynicism is bleeding over to Helldivers, but tbf they haven’t exactly giving me a lot of reason to trust them after the deluge of mid to bad balance patches and weapon drops they’ve had.

I hear you on both counts, but at least they’ve acknowledged as much and have openly said they’re revisiting a lot of that, which is also cause for some hope. That’s kind of why I don’t mind this Warbond being smaller in scope. If they just dumped another three weapons in they’d just make the balancing game even harder for themselves and they’re already having a hard(ish) time with it. I’d rather they slowed down the rate of content drops and made sure there was more substance and quality to each one. Thankfully, that’s exactly what they’ve said they’ll be doing, so yeah. I’m staying optimistic until they really start going off the rails, which I don’t feel they have just yet.

I agree, but in the past each warbond has had 1 or 2 unique primary weapons, and than 1 or 2 generic ones. But in this upcoming one, while I think the secondary shotgun is cool, we are just getting a generic primary that isn’t unique at all. It feels kind of lame to me.

I’m waiting to see this upcoming balance patch to determine how I view AH going forward. I’m already pretty bored of the game atm, so I hope we get some new mission types as well ASAP.

I did spy a new environment in that trailer and it seems pretty likely that the Illuminate are making an appearance sooner rather than later what with all the dark fluid and black holes stuff going on. Things do seem to be cooking. But yes, I think new biomes and missions is what the game needs more than literally anything at this point. There’s plenty of weapons and armor to last for a while, they just need better balancing. What we need more urgently is environments that feel more distinct from one another and mission types that actually mixes up how you play to some noticeable degree. The recently added gated compound defenses were nice, but there needs to be more of that I reckon and pretty soon.

This so much. I care more about this than balance for Helldivers right now (not that balance isn’t important, just this is what I want to see more).

I enjoy these missions but I believe they are only on Defense campaigns.

I absolutely loved the Dark Matter mission, and I still think it’s super lame that it won’t be integrated into standard rotation. Make the map a littler bigger, add destroyable bug nests/bot bases and side missions and it’s perfect. Obviously change the dark matter into something else, maybe don’t even have the callable backpacks just the drills.

The new environment they showed in that trailer looks really interesting because it’s so much denser than anything we’ve seen so far. I’m curious if that will affect the types of missions available and if there’ll be new ones added. I hope so but I’m not holding my breath on that. But I can imagine that a mission in a biome like that would be quite unique in the amount of CQC you’d end up doing and the claustrophobic and chaotic feel of it. Even if it’s just a new biome, hopefully it’ll serve as a good stopgap for a bit.

M Creek and another planet, which is basically a Jungle already (I can’t remember the name of one, only that it had green jungles and I joked it had Morrslieb (green moon from Warhammer fantasy) because at night there was a giant green moon in the sky) have areas that have very close range, foilage environments. I assume it will be similar to those, maybe not having has many open clearings as the other 2 had.

Bring more guns!

Just throw an ungodly amount of enemies on us.
Fatshark should jus give us that golden nurgle shower.

Yeah, the hordes nowadays (since patch 13), while technically the same size, have less enemies appear at once since they now come in 3-4 waves with elites mixed in to try to keep the danger up. Idle hordes have also been mostly removed.

As usual I’m thanking consoles and fatshark’s inability to optimize their games for that.

Gotta say, customisable skins for ships and drop-pods is cool af and I already know that type of feature in particular will draw a certain friend right back to the game, the one who smashes games. Coming down on heavily forested levels with a jungle dropship and drop-pod kitted out in custom jungle armor will make him cream his knickers! Now all they need is custom skins for guns and a colour picker for armour.
