Been playing Helldivers 2 recently and

Okay so Darktide brought me back in with the Penance update.

I’m really bad at switching between games, so trying to juggle both feels like an imposition.

Darktide’s melee combat tickles my neurons in a way HD2’s shooting just…doesn’t. Dunno why. Just is. HD2 is still great ngl, but rn Darktide has my attention, at least until I finish up some Damnation runs and hit the limits of the current balance changes.

This is my issue as well. As I said before. FS is literally holding me hostage through the meaty visceral 1st person gameplay Darktide provides. Otherwise I wouldn’t give them or their trashy games a second of attention.

My biggest wish is that the FS combat team f’s off and starts their own new indie studio to deliver what FS apparently can’t: A complete game.

Why do that when the problem is clearly a management one? Management are the people who keep failing to do anything on time, subcontract their work on cosmetics out to third parties, and set the prices on everything.
Pretty much every problem in this game can be traced back to executive stupidity.

Which is why it can’t be fixed unless you get rid of the entire company itself and just keep the core gameplay dev team.

Corporate structure doesn’t change. Even when it’s proclaiming new workflows, switching to ‘agile’ or whatever buzzworkd gets the shareholders rockhard. Structures. Never. Change. And the people responsible generally find a similar position within a different company in the blink of an eye.

That’s why ‘indie’ devs keep styling on AAA/AA devs these days.

Yeah I’ve completely got burned out of Helldivers at the moment. Which really sucks because that’s still the main coop game my friends are playing. I would be playing ny Darktide if they hadn’t screwed over preformance so hard for me this patch. Just a very unfortunate situation overall.

Darktide’s super fluid and evasion movement, combat brings me back to mostly play it now.

For some damn reason Helldivers 2 every now and then it decides to totally crash to desktop, more annoying when near a 40 min mission completion.

While for a time there was lots of crashes, especially at extract, for me it seems to pretty much entirely fixed. But I agree it was and still is incredibly frustrating, especially if you have a good sample haul (at least Super Credits will still be counted).

I agree, even if I feel like Trapper nets will lock on to my dodge lol.

And while the Penance system has been a bust for me, and I really wish there were any weapon balance changes in this patch, it still has been fun playing Darktide again. But after 25 hours into it, I think I’m done playing it until they fix the weird stuttering and freezing issues this patch introduced for me.

Here is a video of what is happening with my game.

It’s frustrating as hell.

If you haven’t seen it, the most recent Major Order has 2 planets to liberate, with whichever one gets liberated first unlocking a stratagem, and locking the other stratagem from being unlocked.

Personally I really don’t like this system.

I understand it’s part of the narrative, and community experience etc. However I don’t understand why both can’t be unlocked.

Especially if they want to sell the “story” aspect of it, it’s very poorly implemented in this case, coming out of nowhere and not having an impact on the wider story.

I don’t think locking out new content behind an arbitrary choice does anything good. Especially since one of the 2 stratagems is a mine launcher, and with the change of map design from HD 1 to 2 Mines are near useless, so everyone is probably going to go for the Rocket Launcher anyways. Just leavea a bad taste in my mouth.

I certainly know if DT does something similar it would be lambasted for it.

(I’m sure it’ll be unlocked at a later date, at least I hope. But that would mean the entire choice between the 2 was meaningless. But if it doesn’t come back, it was locked off for practically no reason. Just seems like a Zero Sum game to me.)

Maybe, but some may see it as an entertaining way which they would prefer first.

But HD2 can get away with it, due to the style of game they have, and it’s very different to DT.

My problem is, why does one have to be first instead of releasing both of them? The Heavy Machine Gun and the Quasar Cannon both released at the same time, and I don’t see a problem with it.

Like, it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t matter very much, especially with the issues Mines have in the game right now we won’t be missing much. But I just don’t really understand the point of it.

Every time they updated HD2 i had to verify the files and every time several missing files were reacquired.
Something about how they update is broken or incompatible with something on my system

Because it provides players as a community to choose for themselves.

And as a community they get rewarded with what they chose.

I cant even play my game at the moment. Even if I did verify the files.

My money is on them having a laugh or a social experiment in the office.

By presenting it as a choice and suggesting you can have only one, they can gather valuable data.

Or something…

It’s not a reward. It’s a punishment as you lose out on one of the two. I don’t see any positive to this system.

Again if there was more of a story pull to this scenario sure, but there isn’t.

And imo it’s a very artificial choice because there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to get both.

They’re different beasts with different kind of supports. I don’t think I will ever compare HD2 to Darktide or Fatshark to most other studios.

They all stand on their own merits and I like what Fatshark is doing. They deliver something unique and that is great.
