Ah yes the features that everyone loves in darktide.
I’m not going to claim that helldivers is perfect game or anything, but at least you can play it however you want it without some stupid rng systems.
we did
lmao, what a chad.
On a serious note tho, the people who can’t control their emotions over balance changes and meta shifting probably will stay deaf towards any dev explanations how design works.
I’ve never used or tried any form of drugs.
I don’t smoke or drink, but I do admit to having a huge sugar problem, regardless I also run for cardio and strength train with weights.
When you reach 30, sitting in your gaming chair for a few hours hurts your body, unless you also exercise.
Thanks though, I guess I can add “certified idiot” to my resume?
Oof, same. Also coffee. These things probably will kill me/ruin my health faster than heavy drugs.
Oh, damn.
I didn’t want to admit to my coffee addiction, but I consume at least 10-12 cups of coffee on days off.
When I die, there will be so much sugar and caffeine in my body that it will have to be sent into space to avoid poisoning the earth.
Off topic comment incoming!
HOW many?! That actually sounds concerning!
I work in IT and code for a living… You know the joke that a “programmer is a creature that transforms coffee into code”? Well, I can’t drink more than two espressos, or I’m having trouble hitting the right keys (a bit of an exaggeration here, but it really doesn’t feel OK). I can’t imagine going 10-12 cups, unless it’s something that only resembles coffee in taste / spirit, but not in actual effect. But even then I’d probably crave for something else after like 4, tops, just for a change.
What’s so much easier about it than Darktide? I haven’t gotten super far into HD2, but I certainly don’t think it’s any easier, aside from the fact that you don’t have to go and fetch teammates. I certainly die far more often in HD2 than I do in Darktide. If nothing else, friendly fire and having to be situationally aware of that alone is a layer of complication HD2 has that DT does not.
As opposed to Darktide were those issues are an active bleeding open wound on the face of the game, consistently draining the player base and the single biggest issues raised in negative game reviews?
That said, if you’re talking about its difficulty and progression with any experience, you must have picked it up and played it, and that’s kinda the deal here. Often literally 100x+ as many people are playing HD2 as are playing Darktide. There are multiple HD2 threads on this forum, and seemingly most of the posters here have picked up HD2, while Darktide’s play rates continue to decline.
Agreed. I dunno why so many people want their video games to be idleclickers. The point of a game is the process of playing it so it should be fun to play. If you optimize everything challenging out then you have nothing to do.
The problem is that nothing else is reliable.
Even Spear, which takes your backpack and support weapon slots, won’t always kill its target in 2 or 3 shots (from ~5 available), or even worse it simply won’t lock on the target.
Hell, even 500kg bomb can be a joke:
I honestly find them super easy to avoid. Just run perpendicular. That’s the key to the whole game run, or dodge perpendicular to all attack to avoid em. Not backwards.
Most guns you can even aim and shoot perpendicular.
Grenade launcher and auto cannon also two shot em.
Sometimes this works. Other times it doesn’t. I wonder if it’s some kind of latency thing, given that this is all P2P and I’m pretty sure sometimes people are playing on potatoes or with a 56k modem…
There is definitely some server/latency finnickery with them. Normally i can dodge those spewers fine, but then there are those odd 1/10 runs where nothing seems to matter.
Its probably my nr1 complaint about helldivers so far. Many odd laggy behavior like skating chargers, hitboxes that don’t seem to match up with the model and so on.
Fighting 10 titans in comparison is kinda meme with coordinated party.
Mechs now. Against bugs? Amazing. And AC was always good against bots. Also railgun in unsafe is unchanged so its all good.

Mechs now. Against bugs?
Word of warning to the trigger happy. When a hunter jumps in your face, dont fire a rocket at it.
Telling me how to dispense liberty? That doesn’t quite sound like freedom to me…

Grenade launcher and auto cannon also two shot em.
Maybe it differs at higher difficulties (I’m playing around 5/6), but impact nades can one-shot them (or multiple, if they’re grouped up). You just need something else for reliably smashing bug tunnels because dear god, I can’t count how many times I’ve had impact nades fail to destroy tunnels because they didn’t land dead centre.
that’s my biggest gripe with the game right now, running away is in many cases the best solution,
i much rather had it that we actually had the tools to fight head on, but can’t run away as well
so you actually need to group into a fire position and deal with the problems
rather than kiting for 10m buying time for other players 300m away to complete something
so my suggestion would be, 1 double armor, 2 remove enemies ability to headshot you (it bypasses all you armor currently) INCREASE sprint speed but also stamina use so less sprint overall (more panic escape utility less distance cover),
1 designated support weapon slot extra, and more firepower to most weapons
then adjust enemy spawns to remain challenging
the way they handled the last patch made the problems worse not better the “rush in quick/blow everything up with strategems and then leave without even trying to kill the elite units”

HOW many?!
That actually sounds concerning!
As a former restaurant chef, many of those habits, such as coffee drinking and the line cook manner of cooking food, are so embedded in my spine that they are now a part of who I am.
Thank you for your concern, means a lot!
As a STEM grad student, you have my sympathies - I down about the same amount of caffeine.
The most illinformed post on the thread.
But it’s not the balance changes to gear etc that are the problem at the moment.
They messed with spawn rates, detection distance and number of spawns. And it has well and truely screwed the blanace of the game.
I have done a few 5/6’s recently and insane numbers of enemies have spawned overwhelming the entire squad and we are not bad players by a long shot.
But unlike DT, HD2 said they are going to address this, which is a good thing. HD2 was a fun game, but it’s frustrating at the moment as the spawning system is just simply broken.
We had 20 stalkers spawn within 3 mins on one map, 6 at a time, not including all the others. This was 5/6 IIRC.
The worst players in Helldivers 2 (that I have personally interacted with) tend to be the high level players who play on lower difficulties. I find this is because they’re typically extremely arrogant and complacent.
There are players who fit the “high level + lower difficulty” demographic who are just trying to help lower level players, though.
