Please fix the ‘scab/dreg’ contracts. They just encourage people leaving games when the ‘correct’ enemies are not present. I’ve been through no less than 27 missions and found the ‘correct’ enemy in one of them.
Just change it to ‘enemies killed in melee/ranged’. Done, easy, no more wasted time or swapping game nonsense.
And no, the ability to ‘reroll’ contracts does not solve this. Rerolling contracts is just as dumb as rerolling missions. If I reroll to the other kind of enemy, I still get the ‘wrong’ enemy in missions.
Or how about going a step further and making a bunch of interesting contracts? Get headshots, blow up enemies with barrels, etc.
When ‘contracts’ are the weekly incentive for people to play, they need to be fun, not tedious. I don’t know how these have been made so very bad, when about 5 minutes of thinking and 10 minutes of coding would solve this problem, and make the game a whole lot better.
From a new player’s perspective, you’re absolutely right. Melk’s shop is just frustratingly RNG to deal with if you’re still at the stage where you can actually buy useful stuff from him.
From a long-standing player’s perspective, Melk’s shop is irrelevant since it contains nothing of value. At best it’s just a way to hoard ingots to “feel rich” and see if you can reach the cap.
While you’re right about the things you mention, I’d like to see Fatshark re-work Melk’s shop so it becomes more valuable to all kinds of players. Someone on Discord suggested that Melk should be re-worked to become a place where you can buy the oldest cosmetics from the Commodore’s Vestures for Ingots instead of Aquillas.
Most missions (barring Scab Only modifier(where’s my Dreg only FS?)) have a mix of both type present. Sometimes it’s a pretty even split. Sometimes it’s not at all.
I feel your pain, but if your oddly specific 27 missions is true, that’s monumentally bad luck the likes I’ve never seen or you accidentally scab only’d yourself.
exactly what @Steinar said. melk is a relict of early darktide where each character had his own wallet (not a common one), and no means to change blessings at all. players were at the will of an RNG comedy, so melk was a really good source for high quality gear. i did all i could to get his bonus 1000 for completing all weekly tasks, and even made a second zealot for more melk bucks. now he is useless to old players since anyone with some mastery and resources can grab a grey weapon with a perfect stat distribution (the only remaining RNG base) and craft something that would have been god tier.
Facts, haven’t visited Melk in forever. Make his contracts grant small amounts of Aquillas and suddenly he’ll be the most popular guy in the Morningstar.
That’s insane. Worst time I ever had was at the end of my Mortis penance farming when they had a bug with horde spawns that got fixed a patch later. You are touched by the warp or something, friend.
More often than not, I get relatively pretty even splits. There’s usually even “stages” as you go through missions where comps change for a while.
Either you’re unlucky or I’m lucky. Regardless of contract quality.
100%
imagine getting a flamer/purge user when you have to get melee kills or having to get ranged kills when theres a zealot with a heavy sword on the team and on top of that you have to roll the exact faction you want.
i did enough grinding that i can ignore melk completely but it would be nice to have better contracts in case he gets reworked or for new players.
