haven’t been able to login for days at this point… full reinstall, deleting all appdata and resetting all internet things no work, other household able to login… dunno what to do at this point…
Could you please provide your launcher log and most recent console log from a session you attempt to login and receive ‘Backend Error’ so we can take a look under the hood?
This doesn’t appear to be a problem with your account data. We can see your account is reaching our servers for most things.
What’s failing is one specific secure connection your game needs for sign-in, which looks like it’s being blocked or interfered with somewhere on your network (router, firewall, antivirus, or VPN), and not by anything we control.
A few things to try here:
Temporarily connect via a mobile hotspot for one test login (if that works, it confirms it’s a network/ISP-related issue)
Try disabling VPN (if applicable)
Check any Antivirus, Firewall or other internet security software and ensure that Darktide is not being blocked in any way. It may help to add appropriate AV/Firewall exceptions for Darktide
As another person is on the same network without issue, this points towards something specific to your PC; or a per-device rule on the router possibly.
Some things that we can check specifically for your machine:
System clock/date
If it’s wrong, TLS certificate checks fail exactly like this while normal browsing keeps working
If you have a VPN installed
Even if disconnected, a VPN can leave a virtual network adapter or routing rule active that only affects some connection types. If you have a VPN, could you try fully uninstalling/disabling it and retrying?
Antivirus/Firewall with HTTPS scanning
Norton, McAfee, Avast, Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender and others have an SSL/web shield feature that intercepts secure connections. Can you please try temporarily disabling and then signing in
Router per-device rules
Parental controls or device-specific QoS/MAC filtering on the router can single out one device even on a shared connection. It may be worth checking your router admin page for any rules that could be tied to your PC
IPv6
If your PC uses IPv6 while the other device uses IPv4 (or vice versa), and the network’s IPv6 route is the broken one, you could try toggling IPv6 off on the adapter as a test. To do so:
Press Windows Key + R to open the Run menu
Type ncpa.cpl and press ‘Enter’
Right-click your active network adapter (e.g. Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and select ‘Properties’
In the list, uncheck ‘Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)’
I just made a account and there are already a few of these Back end errors so im just going to reply to the most recent. I’ve done everything listed on reddit here and tried myself stuff just wont work I’ve completely ran out ideas. When I say I’ve tried everything listed I really have I just want to play my fav game after a big update help me plsss
Edit: I assume you would ask for the logs so here they are
i found a long dead vpn from an old job that i fought to uninstall but no work still… what exactly did u guys change with this handshake stuff… worked fine for 4 years… I’ve now spent days with this… I’m not trying darts at a board anymore… what specific changes did u make to authenticating so i can nail this down… i haven’t been installing new vpns or changing my network settings so I’m done just rummaging around my computer… i shouldn’t need a very specific set of network circumstances to play your game… i can multiplayer other games just fine and i think i might go do that and tell everyone in those games exactly what i think of this situation…
Same thing here man, I have over 1500+ hours on the game been playing for years and for some reason a week ago I got this error and havent been able to play since and it sucks. Legit have done everything possible to make it work.
@nuboom I’ve spoken further with our backend engineers and they confirmed that they can see Fortinet VPN installed on your machine, which you mentioned was tricky to remove.
We’d like to check if traffic to us is being routed through that VPN in order to rule the possibility that it may be blocking connection. Could you please try running through these steps:
Run ‘Windows Powershell’ as Administrator on your machine (right-click ‘Run as administrator’)
Paste the command nslookup bsp-im-prod.atoma.cloud and press Enter
Take the IP address from the output of the previous step and run the command: Find-NetRoute -RemoteIPAddress <ip> for both IP addresses.
(Please replace ‘< ip >’ with each IP address, brackets not required)
For additional information that can help, please then run the commands:
– Test-NetConnection bsp-im-prod.atoma.cloud -Port 443
– ipconfig /all
If you can copy/paste into a text file, or share screenshots of the results via DM with me (no need to post these publicly in case of sensitive information), that would be helpful for our backend engineers to review.
Please let me know if you need any assistance. Thanks!
Sorry to hear it was tricky to remove. If possible, could you please stil run these checks just so our backend engineers can review what the connection looks like?
