People just stand around during scanner events, not knowing how to use the Auspex.
Yeah, it absolutely should be presented in the Psykhanum tutorials. I also noticed that if you happen to join a scanner mission in progress it doesn’t even seem to show the prompt to equip the auspex, so you’re left completely clueless if that’s your first one.
Came here to report the same thing. I noticed that a LOT of players, even players beyond their first few sorties, do not seem to understand how to scan with the auspex. Some groups will, left to their own devices, just fight the endless horde without really understanding how to progress. Hoshi has a good idea with the Psykhanum, as it could be used to have the player associate certain events with pressing their 4 key, such as a servoskull sending out a pulse.
Yeah the scanner mission has been a pain for several reasons, but people not understanding what to do is a major one. The other is that the endless swarm during scanning is extremely annoying and not really fun, considering you basically have to be 1 man down while he scans all the things.
Agreed. It’s not very intuitive at all and was not covered in the tutorial. I’m sure I pissed off at least 2 groups of people before I figured out what the hell we were supposed to do.
Agree. Managed to figure out what to do the first time out but it took a minute. Would be a nice addition to the advance tutorial if not the basic.
So… how do you use it? I am one of those people you speak of who have no idea what’s going on during those missions.
By default:
- Press 4
- Hold right-click to scan, follow the dots
- While holding right-click, left click to scan the target
Frankly, I found it selfexplanatory, besides the lady on the comms tells you something in light of “take the magic box, point the magic box, scan with the magic box” and “loose the scryer and your skull is mine”
Except, that voice clip doesn’t always play. It didn’t play for me until like the 4th or 5th time I did one of these missions.
thank you for this; literally had to stop and google in the middle of the mission to figure it out. While the controls pop up, they don’t actually tell you that you need to hold both at the same time, so I was just holding one or the other and not getting anywhere. Cheers mate.
My other 3 random teammates in the mission with me didn’t figure it out either, after about 15 minutes of us bumbling about near the scanning targets, auspexes out, wondering what we were meant to do, so yeah, I’d say this could probably use a tutorial in the Psykanium.
