I do not remember ever having spoken out in favor of nerfing the powersword.
I might have said something back when it had a ton of empowered swings (7 iirc) per activation, but i am pretty sure that i have not suggested any ps nerfs ever since it only has 3 empowered swings per activation with power cycler.
I do remember having suggested to move some power from the pc blessing to the base weapon though, which would technically be a buff.
I am generally not a fan of nerfs.
I certainly have spoken out agains ps nerfs though, which is why other forum users have repeatedly referred to me as a crutch sword using vet main.
It’s the grenade replacement for Psyker, not the primary weapon replacement. Playing with a Psyker using it is inherently unfun because of the uptime on the shards.
A staff user can do basically the same thing that an assail user can do.
But by using the staff instead of the blitz.
Why is it fine when it is achieved by using a staff, but terribly imbalanced when it is done by using the blitz?
The staff isn’t taking away enjoyment from the team
How is that possible, when the staff can do the same kind of killing that assail can do?
And with even better range.
How can two different things cause the same outcome, yet only one of the two things is being complained about?
For me it’s not even necessarily about the balance of it at the moment, but how isolated it feels from the rest of your kit. This was my thought on how to potentially please both sides, by nerfing assail’s ability to be used entirely on its own while simultaneously buffing its ability to be combo’d with/weaved in with use of your other weapons. Honestly I’d probably enjoy it even more along with these changes if it was made insta throw like Zealot knives:

New patch just went live it seem, with some minor change. You could check it from the provisional patch note they released before.
This clip is pre-buff assail in action. I can only imagine what it’s like now. “Less damage to carapace armor” my ass.
Honestly I think Assail needs an entire rework. From the ground up. Because with the right click attack you just have what brain burst does but better, and if you have it stagger or offer some form of crowd control you basically have a deadlier smite, and since it’s introduction it’s turned this game into a walking simulator, and I frequently play on T5.
Can’t wait for a FS dev to play and witness an Assail psyker abuse the hell out of the mechanics they put into the game.
So someone abuses an interaction of weapon blessings with assail, by stacking the rending blessing on their melee, casting an assail and then quick swapping back to melee, while assail is flying towards the enemy…
And somehow, you think that this is a problem of assail’s carapace damage?
I have never seen anyone do this in a mission, yet you act like this is a massive issue that ruins everyone’s day by just deleting crushers from your screen (which never happened).
All classes can use such interactions (all grenades for example). Most things can make use of it much easier, than assail can. With many other things, it is so easy that you do not even have to try. Most people probably “abuse” the interaction with these abilities, without even knowing that the interaction even exists.
With the zealot knife for example, it is near impossible not to make use of any such interaction. You would have to hold an object that is not a weapon (or a weapon with no perks/blessings), at the time the knife hits, in order to avoid such interactions.
I do not see anyone complaining about people making use of these interactions with anything else.
Assail is simply a very visible attack, so people like you dogpile on it.
Assail still interacts with Hand Cannon without needing the revolver to be out.
That is a handcannon blessing issue.
Other wepon blessings are only actually active, while the weapon is out.
I know, just saying it hasn’t been fixed yet.
IMO Asail is ok. It does nothing against heavies/monsters…
Finally the Psyker can survive a horde and here comes the Nerf Train again.
Leave it to someone on a forum to only focus on one thing about my post and disregard everything else. I’ve been playing this class since closed beta and I’ve almost never had a problem keeping up with the rest of my team, and it’s abundantly clear you’ve never had to play with someone like this.
So you know what, just for you, I’m going to use the most abusable build for assail psyker, solely for the off chance that I end up playing a game with you, and hog all the kills for myself, solely for you to understand how much of a problem this is.
