Are there twitch tournaments in China?

I heard that they are having a twitch tournament among the Chinese players. Is this true? Where can I learn more about it? I heard that the tier 1 is 15/15/200. Can North American players participate?

Oh wow, please do update this if you find out. I’d love to participate in that. 15/5 300 is right in my alley. :joy:

It’s held during last year’s summer, t1 is legend and t3 is 30/200 cata. I haven’t heard any news whether there will be another tournament this year

Yes, they host regular tournies. I think they post announcements on Bilibili and have their own QQ group. Royale w/Cheese might know more. XX also is a good resource (dunno if he’s on this forum).

Thanks, everybody! Yes, I spoke with Royale w/ Cheese, and he said they’re closed to non-Chinese players. I think it’d be so cool to have one for North American / European players in addition to the existing tournaments.

One problem I have with the onslaught tournament is that the deathwish and balancing mods create barriers for entry. Because of the logistics of putting a team together or coordinating in your current group, it’s hard to practice on your own or even find people to play with. Added to this are the difficulties of debugging the mods themselves and all the random crashes that come with it. A twitch tournament, on the other hand, would be open to anyone who has the base game and is good at it. You can practice anytime without scheduling practice times with others as long as there are randoms to join your lobby.

Just a few thoughts!

This is what we have fun runs and Captains Series for. One of the reasons we don’t have Twitch tournaments is because the tourney players are pretty vocal on what they consider “fair” or not in these contexts, and the randomness of Twitch might be pretty off-putting for placements. We do utilize them in fun run though! While those have a preferred theme, we also just let people do what they want as well.

A LONG time ago @Jsat used to do coordinated play days with the community; though that was some 7-5 (!!!) years ago. Could be worth starting up again, but not sure how popular it would be considering VT’s advanced age at this point.

Not sure why it has to be one or the other. People who enjoy modded put together modded tournaments. If you enjoy twitch, then put together a twitch tournament. Why would you expect people who enjoy modded to put other a twitch tournament just because you like twitch?
