Of course they might not want to categorically rule it out, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left to be said here.
Has it been touched at all since we last heard of it? Is there any thought of coming back to it? Either way why not just allow private games for single players for now? Surely that would be an extremely small amount of work to do, so if there’s a good reason not to do that share it?
These don’t feel like unreasonable questions to have answered at this point.
While I understand that they want to leave the possibility open. There’s ways of doing that without being as ambiguous as “not a priority”
“Solo Mode is not being worked on at this time. We aren’t closing the door on it, but currently don’t have an ETA on when it can be expected but will let you all know as soon as something more concrete is in place”
Fatshark does not confirm or deny anything until the precise moment they have to. Just because people raddaraddaradda about it doesn’t mean they have to. They’ve demonstrated time and time again that communication with players is a low priority.
if we everyone thought like you we would have never gotten a crafting rework.
we all like the game and we wanna see it improve voicing our opinions is the best way to do that
This will be the post that finally convinces Fatshark to implement Solo Mode. Nevermind all the other posts, threads, comments, messages, and such over the past two years that have advocated for Solo Mode and got nowhere. It is MY VOICE and THIS THREAD that finally gets the job done.
I’m all for voicing discontent but the idea that they’re being quiet about it is sort of abolishing them of responsibility. They’re not being silent about it, they said they’re not working on it. You literally have your answer.
Hounding them to repeat it as if the first time didn’t count seems to be a way to cope with reality, like you really want them to not actually have scammed you so you delude yourself into thinking they just haven’t understood the question yet. I’d rather people actually held them accountable for them promising it then dropping work on it rather than pretending they’re ignoring the issue. Meaning: stop buying cosmetics (have some self control you animal), get refunds where you can (unlikely) and consider this in future fatshark purchases (I personally won’t buy a Fatshark game early again)
Just classic overpromise, underdeliver, then hold meetings where it’s decided that it’s not a priority because at this point it wouldn’t bring in income anyway
Hard disagree on that one. If it runs off-server, with sanity checks (much cheaper than running a full instance of the game), then the only costs associated with it are dev time. And some percent of solo players would definitely buy clothes to dress up their bots.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the reasoning was that you’re more inclined to buy cosmetics if you see other players wearing them, which doesn’t happen in solo play. Also I’m not 100% sure anymore, but I think it was Fatshark who said they intentionally kneecap the bots capabilities because they don’t want people to view the bots as better than players because it would affect matchmaking negatively.
Iirc one of their reasons they gave on launch for not implementing solo mode yet was that the bots would currently make it a bad experience. It seems like the obvious conflict here is that they seem to think the bots need to be good for solo to be viable, but they also fear if they make the bots good either the matchmaking (as they stated) or the cosmetics sales (as I speculate) would take a hit.
Them coming out and saying they don’t view solo mode as a priority anymore, despite people clearly wanting it and asking for it, seems to me like they probably called the shot that it’s not worth implementing because of this conflict and plan to stick to this decision (because not even players requesting it changed their mind at the time, and still haven’t)
We don’t know, but it’s safe to say that not 100% of people buy cosmetics just to flaunt them. I’m sure there are plenty more people that use For The Drip than there are those who use it and post their outfits online for others to see.
It’s fun to trick out a doll. Some people would do it in solo just for the kickass looks in the team intro videos.
I dunno about the rest of your post, can’t remember them ever saying if they made bots too good it’d be bad for the game. But I dunno. Just sounds like weapons-grade mope to me.
Didn’t even specifically mean that, I meant more like people getting jealous of other players wearing stuff. They seem to design around this concept, for example something that I feel reaffirms this being a design intention is how they implemented a player inspect on the morning star that lets you see where they got their cosmetics. Utterly worthless waste of dev time if you ask me, but then again I don’t even load into the morning star if I can avoid it. There’s an argument to be made that the morning star itself serves that purpose and nothing else, also.
I would add that it would give more reason to buy cosmetics. Must say that, in FPS, I don’t see my clothes. But if I could use my characters as bots… I could buy cosmetics for them. So, more reasons to buy a full set of cosmetics (zealot + vet + psyker + ogryn)
and this was the last thing they said about solo play for what i could find
“it is still in development but we are prioritizing progression, content, stability and such right now”.
wait what progression and what content and stability
because the content i have seen it was very disappointing.
it’s like they tried to go radio silence (since they don’t care at this point) with the hope everyone would forgot and move on. but obviously people didn’t forget that. and now devs are forced to work on it because of the previous statements of other CMs or even devs themselves
the thing is that they are trying hard af to delay every time because they don’t want it, but at some point they will have to do it, or at worst going radio silence with the hope people will move on and forget.
i honestly kinda don’t care about solo play because if anything, i’d like a modded realm of some sort, but i’ll always still bring this up to fatshark everytime, just because they clearly promised something and it’s just undelivered. like it was for crafting and they deserved the complaints and they do deserve them still now.
also there was used to be other statements by aqshy where was answering to a question regarding solo play and the answer was actually “the answer is yes and yes” referring to private solo lobbies. but i can’t find it
That was in one of the pre-/post-launch Announcement posts in Nov/Dev 2022.
If this really is the last thing said on the subject (I can’t be arsed to look right now), it seems it is still in development! Great news! So buckle up with some Versus-level of patience! It wasn’t the last we heard of it! See below!
This is the last we heard of it. This is corpospeak heavy but it’s saying “no we dropped development because it’s a co-op game, but maybe we will get back to developing it”
To me, this is not an opendended statement at all. It says it’s not being developed, without excluding the possibility that development might start back up at some point. There’s nothing they could say that would add to this if the situation hasn’t changed.
where at this point it truly feels like they don’t wanna let people play solo, because they want players play with other people just to incentivize people buying skins, or like the fact opening an instance in solo it is hurtful for their pockets and for now they let doing that with the MMT mod because it is just the mod.
Solo play is in its final stages of testing as we fix the last issues that remain. We aim to release this at Launch. If not, a patch shortly after that in December.
