I get it, many, many players don’t care about this. “It’s a co-op game”, “randoms are fine”, etc, etc. All valid points and all are free to play how they want; I don’t want to take anything away from the multiplayer only crowd.
But damn, if it wouldn’t be nice to be able to take my time on a map sometimes and appreciate the design and art without having to have a friend along. Maybe I’ve taken a long break playing something else and want to cut my teeth again without messing up anyone’s day? Maybe I just want to shoot some mutants without dealing with other people sometimes because I’ve had an awful day at work?
Can we please, please, please remove the two player party limit for private games? I don’t care if bots are rubbish. I don’t care that many others don’t want to play that way. Sometimes I do, and it was promised before release, so we can we just do please? It’s never too late to keep a promise.
And for the record, no the mod isn’t a viable solution. It completely cuts off progression, so it’s a non-starter, as much I respect the author’s work.
Absolutely true! But if combined with Tertium five it allows me to do something, I absolutely wish for an official SP update as well: take your spare characters as bots - like in vermintide 2.
You can use many more tries to launch a sort of solo. But if someone picks same exact mission as you, he will be able to join your mission.
But I agree with you. From what I saw, Fatshark planned to implement a solo mode different from the private games.
Perso I want that they get rid of the 2 players requirement for private games. And if they have time, they can implement a true solo, something a little different than the regular game (no bot… so maybe there should be less disablers… maybe something different for Toughness mechanics as if there is no bot = no coherency = no passive toughness regen).
And they could even make better the bots by allowing us to use our characters as bots if they plan to let bot in solo game mode (don’t know what they planned or have think). A mod permits it for the solo mod.
I use a lot many more tries… most of the time to complete penances. I started to play in solo, but I want to complete several penances (Few are missing on my board if we don’t take into consideration Havoc). In fact, I hesitate, after completing my 5 remaining penances, between completing Havoc penances (I hate Havoc) or start playing solo seriously. I really attempt to go for solos… at least there is something really fun in solo games.
My actual skill level is that I can solo Heresy. Malice is really too easy… I tried damnation 2 months ago. Low int was easy, regular, it was hard… Must try again more seriously. In fact Damnation is not really difficult… except when a monstrosity spawns, as the bots are unable to really help. They usually vanish soon after the monstrosity appeared…
Some kind of formal implementation of the Solo Mod & Tertium 5 would be amazing, and should definitely be the minimum end goal. To be honest, if it didn’t disable progression I don’t think anyone would be asking for a formal solution. Solo private parties would be welcome short-term solution in the meantime though.
The cynic in me can’t help but think that the bean counters have decided that they need players to see other player with cosmetics in order to make more money.
When I found MMT, I clocked a hundred extra hours in the game, easy. I originally bought the game with my friends, but knew they’d drop the game in a week or two. Which is exactly what they did, but since FS had advertised the game will include a solo mode, I didn’t worry about getting my money’s worth. They’d just need “weeks” after launch to implement it after all. Fast forward two years, no official solo w/ bots mode, have to use a mod to play the way FS sold the game for me, and now the mod isn’t working.
One reason i kinda like private games with bots (using the 2 xbox method on console) it feels like its own difficulty modifier all its own…and one i genuinely enjoy. Itmakes big beefy enemies a bit more of a threat without increasing damage done to you by a ton its hard to explain. Its not for everyone but i enjoy it and would love a real proper solo mode to be in

The laptop that hosts maelstroom.net sits in @telopots kitchen. His home was broken into last Tuesday which is roughly(?) when the site stopped updating.
Probably not a coincidence. Poor guy. At least his cats are ok.
Someone broke into my house last Friday while I was at work and dumped chopped vegetables in my sink. Rural Australia is so f*cking weird.
My door was damaged from the incident, and we didn’t have a red capsicum in our fridge at the time… yet there it was sliced up in my sink with other vegetables. Everything else was completely undisturbed.

Maelstroom occasionally goes down because no matter what I do, the machine refuses to not auto update and restart, and so the site needs to be manually turned back on.
I think the reset happened when I was busy with burglary stuff and so I forgor for a bit.
