**Any news on promised solo mod? Anything at all.**

I mentioned it before but I can bring it back
Sometimes I dont feel like playing with people who hog all the ammo even while they’re at full ammo and I’m almost running out; or people who constantly rush ahead and get downed and then call us bad at the game; or I’m having a bad day and I dont want to cause my team to lose, if I lose, then I’m the only one who gets punished (and the bots, but they dont mind)
I was able to do it in Vermintide 2, bots there were doing a great job, so I dont see why I cannot do the same in Darktide, especially when FS mentioned before release that this mode is coming.

This is still a problem. I used to think people would play more conservatively and save the ammo for elites than wasting on horde. But survivalist change all that did was make people more competitive with each other for ammo. So what happens is that people disperse to go hunting for ammo and ignore situation at hand.

Hence now I favour making builds that don’t rely on ammo just to overcome this.

Because it was a feature they explicitly said was going to be included. That’s all that matters at the end of the day.

There’s other reasons, people here have already listed most of the good ones. But even without those, the fact of the matter is that official statements from Fatshark said that Solo Mode WOULD be included in the game. It is a feature they promised. At one point they even said it was so close to completion they gave a time estimate.

If we’re going to hold Fatshark, or any studio, accoutable, then we need to hold them to ALL of their promises, not just the ones we personally want. They need to acknowledge that Solo Mode was something they promised would be in the game, and that they have failed to deliver on this promise.

Precisely.

Would I, personally, use Solo Mode? Only if it came with bots and let me finish this ONE DANG ZEALOT ACHIEVEMENT, but otherwise…not really? It’s not why I would play the game.

But it was a promised feature, so the studio needs to release it. Basic accountability matters.

You said “WOULD”, but it was clearly “WILL”.

Same here. I really like playing gun Psyker. In fact, it’s the only Psyker build I enjoy, but I hate that some matches you are forced to run ahead and hog ammo, or else others will do it and you run out.

I usually see how it goes and regularly people are conscious of ammo percentages and share, but the times when they’re not I come to resent the game. My solution is not to play Psyker anymore.

why cant we have custom games with map select? would be nice to be able to change wounds/enemy density/hp/modifiers to make fun games for yourself/friends. or better yet just test shi…stuff so i can give better bug reports

It does remove your awareness too much because now you’re wary of pickups and moving away from team a lot checking different areas splitting up, when it makes sense for everyone to roll as a death ball covering each other. It is when people split up it goes to hell.

Solo mode would allow people to test without impacting others in real scenarios in closed spaces. Too easy to use spawn mod in training ground and kite in plenty space large area. Also it would prove a big point in solo - Class abilities, Melee or Gun, have at least something for carapace.

At the moment - Recommend for public play roll a build without gun focus. Too much hassle chasing ammo.

I know you already got a lot of responses, but wanted to add mine.

Most of the major reasons are covered by others. The ability to play solo w/ customized bots, the fact it was stated that it “will” be in the game, and that it’s an industry standard for this type of game: left 4 dead and it’s clones all allow for solo w/ bots except Darktide. Hell, even Helldivers 2 allows you to play solo even w/o bots.

But for me personally, I have roughly 400 hours in VT2 and that’s in my top 3 most played games on Steam, maybe 100 of those hours were in duo/trio with my friend(s), and less than 5 of those were w/ Randoms. So roughly 395 hours of my Vermintide 2 playtime was solo w/ bots. L4D and L4D2 are in similar situations with over 95% of my playtime being solo w/ bots. It’s how I enjoy these games, it’s how Fatshark let me play their past two games, and it’s how Fatshark told me I’d be able to play this one over 2 years ago.

I’m not asking for a unique single player campaign. I’m asking for the ability to launch a private lobby with (eventually) customizable bots (ideally based off my other characters) and if Fatshark is holding off due to “not being able to sell cosmetics to solo players.” I promise that I’d actually spend money to make my characters look good if I could see them as my bots.

Yeah, I wasn’t making an exact quote, so sorry my word choice wasn’t exact. But yeah. They said it will be in the game. They either need to openly state that this is still the case, or openly admit that its not happening.

Tbh, playing solo is hard. Bots use worse weapons of the game (catachan sword + lasgun or headhunter). Just this change would bring a lot (if you’re not convinced, try it in the solo mod and use the mod that permits to use your characters as bot).

As a band aid, they can allow us to start a private game without the restriction of the need to be 2 players. To be honest, I really would like such move…
As I would like also a true solo, a little different than the current game. But this one seems a little ambitious even if it would be great to be able to play offline and also that it would bring to console a mode that you can play without having a subscription…

I actually use MMT pretty often. For now, I am at heresy normal that I can clean. I cleaned also a damnation but low intensity. Game is most of the time not hard, however the problem is when pressure comes. Here, bots die miserably and you’re often alone against a monstrosity + specials + elites + horde.

But if I play in solo this is usually cause I am tired of groups that try to speed run the missions, that don’t play as a team at all and also of people that pick, obviously, wrong difficulty. True, for the last point, bots are not better than them.
I play also solo to train myself. Like when I jumped difficulties, I am actually about to do the same but in solo.
Also, when I play solo, I can use any weapon. Tbh, at first that was one of my main reason to play solo. Cause if you use a weak weapon, you cannot really play in cooperation cause others will use too strong weapons.
But let’s face it… after a lot of solo runs, I can assure you that there are a lot of weapons that are a really BAD idea to pick them, cause their efficiently is clearly not as same level of others. Using a boltgun makes things 10 times easier… taking a stub autopistol makes things near impossible (especially if you don’t pair it with a good melee weapon).

Things they would have consider in solo mode

  • Game mechanic with 3 tentacle spawns you would need to consider build to hit them all fast enough whether melee or ranged.

  • Game mechanic where you operate terminal with infinite horde without wave break. So you would need stun/stealth to give you few secs, since waiting for horde break/end might not be possible.

  • You can only carry one book.

  • You can carry only one ammo or one medkit

If they’d add proper bots like in VT2 all of that would be a non-issue.

Demon is a true problem impossible to solve in a solo on Damnation… If the bots are not changed for this, it is something impossible to complete.

I guess it’s also worth to mention what exactly do we want as a solo mode. Some people say they just want to play solo as in truly solo, no bots or players. While other people (me included) want something like VT2, want to play with bots who are more competent than what they are right now, where they can handle their own even on higher difficulties. Going the bot route would solve the solo way as well, so it would be the best choice for them to go with.
Either way, it’s either that or them saying they’re dropping the mode. As sad and painful it would be, at least it would put an end to the endless debate and acknowledging the issue. Still, I hope they will hold up their end of the bargain.

Ideally a solo mode would also encompass a true offline mode, as in having the match run locally on your on pc without requireing an online connection to fatsharks servers.
Even if it means having a separate save file for your online and offline “profile”.

I want a solo mode… I am tired to have to run behind players that are trying to speed run all missions…

At this point I’d be happy if they just lifted the two drink minimum for private parties. That alone would bring me back to the game. But, like most of the rest of the solo decriers on this forum, what I really want is a VT2 style mode where you can run with your other characters and command them to pick up Grims and Tomes. I don’t care whether it’s online or offline.

God, allowing us to launch a private lobby with 1 person as a temporary measure would be so impactful in bringing back some goodwill from people like us who are waiting for solo mode.
