**Any news on promised solo mod? Anything at all.**

I genuinely don’t blame Strawhat for Solo Mode at the very least. The best she can do is keep repeating to the team “they’re still asking about it” and I’m guessing she’s repeatedly told “ignore them. They’ll shut up and buy cosmetics because FOMO muahahahaha”. Possibly with a mustache twirl or two, maybe petting a fat orange cat wearing a shark costume, the guy’s probably wearing a top hat and monocle as well, I’m not sure how else I can hammer home: “Fatshark is run by greedy pigs who don’t care about their fanbase, only their fanbase’s wallets”.

Edit: and if a Fatshark dev sees this (or it’s relayed to them by Strawhat), I hope they realize that this is a common, but exaggerated, take on how the community sees Fatshark at the moment.

Really I wouldn’t even blame the development team, either. This is a management and up issue, simple as. Someone, or someones, with the authority is telling the staff not to work on certain things, and not to talk about certain things. THAT is the fault point.

The people actually making and developing the code and assets for the game are just doing what they can to make a living. I’m sure whoever would be responsible for actually creating the solo mode functionality would love to be able to, but their hands are tied and instead they’re stuck putting out fires somewhere else, or working on something the people at the top said was more important.

I can’t expect people to martyr their livlihoods for the sake of a video game feature, so I don’t blame the people doing the gruntwork for going along with it, and I sure as hell don’t blame Strawhat for being pretty much the only person directly talking to us.

I definitely agree with that. It’s not the CMs or (most) devs faults. I refuse to believe the devs who put 8+ years of effort into the Tide series are only out for money, but something is going on with the management/higher ups that is so far out of touch with what the players want that we keep doing the same song and dance of “release thing, people complain, ignore it for as long as possible, begrudgingly fix it.”

Glad to see I’m not the only one who keeps checking up on this. People always dismiss the lack of solo play cause “its a coop game”, well maybe I dont want to constantly play with people who steal ammo all the time, or spam pings, or trigger deamonhosts on purpose, or all that kind of stuff. Hell, most of my playtime on VT2 was solo with bots and I had a lot of fun, I just want the same thing in Darktide, since it was promised so long ago. I don’t blame the devs, I would just like to see it happen.

To be complete…

I think that private game that we could start alone is a sort of band aid.
A real solo game mode would be 200 times better… just, by example, for the possibility to play without using connection and therefor avoiding pings problems. Also, this would be good to have a true solo, without any bots. But I guess it would requires also adjustments regarding specials.

i have to support he tenacity, you guys just wont give up!

that Q&A the op’s post quotes who was that talking for FS? some poor guy counts his chickens before they hatch and what 28? months later still a lot of people clinging to that one comment like it was a signed in blood contract.

a true cautionary tale do not tell people what your planning or working on it can only hurt.

my guess here, given what they said then and that tehy have simply not replied to any of the hundreds of these threads since the answer cant be one we would like or understand so im a go with
its the consoles that are the problem, often MS demands feature parity and include the S in that. and a host server also being its client is simply far too much overhead for the consoles/ lot of pc’s so either they are contractually blocked by MS from launching it or they estimate the sheer amount of issues with people not meeting specs running it just isnt worth the effort.

They tend to operate at a very glacial pace.

Even simple UI/QOL features that take months or up to 2 years to implement. But mods created by modders who have their own 9-5 jobs to create in a few weeks simply in their spare time out of curiosity compared to a large studio.

FS wouldn’t have to do any work. Just go on nexusmods, ask permission from modder, offer reward gesture and integrate.

Why - At least then it would benefit console players too as PC Players have turned their HUD into predator level of information

Solo Mode

OK FS not closing down anytime soon and unlikely you’ll be playing this game for 10 years. But imagine a game that did not rely on servers, had a separate progression offline mode. It would make you truly feel you owned the game instead of renting and you can continue to play beyond it’s normal lifetime. Since offline you also gave custom options to adjust spawn and do all sorts for personal enjoyment offline.

Even more incentive to buy knowing this.

There are certain games on steam that still have thousands playing even when 20 years old.

It was Aqshy talking in a pre-launch announcement, not a Q&A.

There’s the full post

And the relevant section:

So, this wasn’t a “Q&A where they counted their chickens” this was a Pre-order Beta Hotfix announcement that happened to have a FAQ section after the stuff about Solo Mode/Private Lobbies. The main reason this was even addressed at the time was a lot of people were talking about how the game didn’t have private lobbies and we all were speculating that it was part of the beta and the full-game would have it by default, then this announcement was the nail in the coffin of “oh, it wasn’t just a beta thing, it’s just not ready and will be for launch.” and here we are, 27 months and 3 days later, and it’s still not in the game.

My sincerest apology for thinking a question and answer was a QnA where they counted their chickens , this was clearly a qna in a community notice where they answered a question counting their chickens before they hatched. my bad.

And that’s a shame…

Instead of delivering a promised feature, they have given us havoc… great…

If I was appreciating it, I could have pleased by this…
Fatshark… maybe time to end the joke? give us solo game play.

No worries. It was from over 2 years ago at this point. I’m sure a lot of people aren’t aware of the context of how this whole thing got started and why people are so adamant about getting an answer. As another commentor said, if the answer is “it’s never coming. Drop it.” I’ll be disappointed, but at least it’s an answer. It’s the not knowing because Fatshark is hoping we’ll forget it and drop it that’s the most frustrating thing to me.

I’m pretty sure Strawhat has been told not to say anything but “Not a priority”, which even she knows is a BS answer, because they know that any committed answer will either bind them to getting it released (if they say it’s coming for sure) or lose players who are kind of just hanging around waiting for it to come eventually (if they say it’s never coming). So it’s in their best interest to not confirm or deny anything, but that’s not something a company should be doing 27 months later. For the first 6 months? Sure. But by now they really need to just give us an answer on whether it’s coming or not.

yes, they must say us if they are liars or not… if we can trust them in the future, or absolutely not.

Funny thing is that we had a month or two where it genuinely was great, around the release of UL&L. Then the update dropped and all quiet on the Atoman front. Strawhat was carrying it all on her shoulders.

I trust that she cares, but it seems to me somebody told her to talk less, or she’s literally not being given anything. We can only speculate.

“We’re working on it” is CM equivalent to “I have no idea”, just keep that in mind.

This is only strictly true if they have already decided internally to never make a solo mode.

If they truely wish to bring a solo mode, but don’t have a timeline they can trust for when it going to be ready, it might honestly be better* to say that plans for it have been scraped.
Then surprise (insert number of months here) months later they release an update which includes private games.

*better in terms of generating goodwill, rather than this tiptoeing around the subject.

That’s a very true clarification. My cynicism is showing because I’m genuinely of the mindset that it’s never coming and just want them to admit it at this point. That way I won’t be as disappointed if they do confirm it’s never coming but will be more excited if it does release lol

Why do people want a solo mode for a game designed to be played with four complementary classes?
It’s a sincere question.
What do you truly expect out of this mode? Less waves? Less objectives? A solo story mode? Please elaborate.

So the game is playable for solo players, it’s actually super simple.
It should also be playable offline, but it currently isn’t.

exactly the same as if im playing with 3 other players except they aren’t present and its hosted on my machine(bonus points if i could play it fully offline with a snapshot of my profile)

People at least want the 1-Player Private Matches from Vermintide 2 back. In those, the Player’s other Characters were their Bots, so the whole “complementary classes” argument is redundant with that context.

It was effectively a Solo Mode with three customisable Bots.

Not only are the archetypes (classes) not really complementary, you can have 4 of the same archetype with the same play style and similar or identical builds etc. It may have been somewhat true pre #13, but after the tree rework all bets are off (making me wanna re-watch Snatch).
