If anyone knows a game that has a good melee gameplay, ranged also and that is intense and played solo… please tell it to me.
At this point, I want trying a new game. Speed running is not a gameplay I want… and 80% (I would even say 90%) of randoms speed run.
I tried avowed… that’s just a… bad game. There’s nothing in it. Animations are bad, combat uninteresting…
Well, at least Dune comes in may… maybe it will be good enough to switch for it.
And to add it… Just made my char on Dune… wow. We can select our face! incredible, they did a game that allow it at contrary of what we have in Darktide (but like any normal game, yes we can change our face).
And wow! my god, they optimized it, or their benchmark is broken. I get more than 100 FPS with all at max with a… RTX 3080.
Good Melee/no ranged: Godfall is pretty fun, (played a bit on the Deck a couple months ago. Pretty dead but relatively easy to solo everything until the endgame raids from what I read), sadly not many really good melee focused games in my experience =/
Good ranged/little to no melee: Borderlands Franchise, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (different, but good for a playthrough & NG+ at the very least)
Hybrid: Vermintide 1/2 lol
Edit:
Great Melee OR Ranged: Monster Hunter World/Rise/Wilds (Wilds technically let’s you bring melee and ranged but you can’t swap easily). GU is the best but unless you’re fine with playing it on the Switch you’ll have to rip it and emulate it (this is how I play it w/ a 60 FPS mod, it’s fantastic)
Semi related, since we started talking about different games here.
I got into Monster Hunter Wilds since it released recently, and I’m mostly playing Online Single Player. Not only I dont see other people and can pause the game anytime I want, when I send an SOS flare, I can choose that bots join my session, so I’ll stay in that single player mode, but still play with other hunters. Even though people always say its a coop game and meant to be played that way, I think its a brilliant solution, and it makes me wonder why Darktide still doesn’t have something like this, it’s a game changer.
That’s actually hilarious. I’ve been doing the same and never made the connection. Probably because MonHun as a franchise always supported solo play if you were skilled enough
Ok … New Guy over this stuff … Came upon it while searching for a way to play S O L O (yes … I don’t want to have to drag someone to my game just to not have to deal with randos in my games and I’m a bit of a loner … The only other person that ever plays with me only plays GTA Online … ) I like this game, really I do, I bought it maybe a year after launch, not knowing anything but thinking “hey … This is like Left 4 Dead ou Back 4 Blood or Payday 2 or VT2 … A Co-op Shooter … Good thing I don’t need other people to play since it must have a play mode with bots” … FatShark didn’t even put a freaking Bot Mode in that new Horde Mode … Come on!
It’s been what? (From what I read) 2 years since that they said they were working on it …
And, as much as it makes me a bit sad to not be able to play without randoms I refuse to play until a SINGLEPLAYER BOT MODE is added!
How hard is it? Yhea the super rare occasion you have a game without players you play with some bots … (From what I’ve read they are really really not good) But it’s something, I just want to shoot heretics and have fun, I don’t play Payday 2 in max difficulty, on loud and don’t expect to get a bit mad about the bots, same can be said for any game, if they make the game a bit frustrating even on the lowest difficulty, just give us a “DIY Scenario Planner” type stuff, like, you want enemies to have much health but not appear THAT many ? You want them to have more roaming enemies? How about a bit less? Want to do a Crazy Scenario with no rest where you fight literal BULLET SPUNGES with Special Enemies and Deamon Spawns at every corner? Go ahead
Just give the Solo Players something to work on Pls!! Hell Make it like Sony did with Killzone Mercenaries for the PsVita (Yhea random example) put a price tag of 2 or 5 (Insert Cash Symbol here) on it and see how many players would give those 5 Euro-Ruppee-Dollar- Pesos whatever with a smile on their faces!
We know several things, it was working and almost ready for launch, but 2 years haven’t seen it release, we also know they have delivered it in previous games, and we know they haven’t explained it or addressed it since, from that I would infer two things, it’s hit a brick wall and can’t be delivered probably for a reason it won’t help to give.
Occam’s razor on this one for me, it’s because of the Xbox or more specifically the S series and M$'s insistence on feature parity , i doubt it is capable of running the server code and the client at the same time
Interesting, gentlemen! Very interesting! I hadn’t even considered that as a reason for the lengthy delay.
To be honest, I’d be happy with either, in terms of fulfilling their goals. However if they have to choose only one, for the sake of logic here, it should be with bots. So that people can play through all missions in privacy and still get the Darktide experience.
Totally agree about that…
My opinion is that a true solo requires a lot of work. Cause you have to fix everything that can ruin the experience:
disablers… you cannot throw the same number if you keep them as they are in the actual game… you could also put a “rule” that allow the player to be released from a net after 15 seconds… anyways it has to be tweaked
demon with bulbs… in damnation this is a little too much
mini games… if you’re alone, you won’t be protected… so here again something would have to be made.
A true solo is something that requires a LOT of work. But a solo with bots is easy to implement.
Part of me wants it because my entire VerminTide 2 playtime was with bots, lots of fun. Also want it so I can get Psyker Malleus Monstronum and Zealot Just A Flesh Wound penances. These penances are completely unobtainable through regular play due to asinine private game requirements.
Wouldn’t be all the time and I wouldn’t be playing Auric Damnation with bots, but regular Heresy or such would be fun. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood to run Auric Maelstrom and want a fun, chill game where I can kill hordes of heretics at my own pace. Ideal dream gamemode for me is Malice difficulty with bots but Auric Damnation intensity lol.
yesterday i had an aneurysm trying to do clifhanger with someone without having the bots kill off the hoard custom games and bot customization would be great
The mod doesn’t require you to host a server in the traditional sense. It modifies the game to allow you to play in private lobbies without relying on Darktide’s matchmaking servers""
Yeah, it doesn’t affect the CPU because it doesn’t host on your PC It’s still using the dark tide servers, it just keeps you off the matchmaking.
darktide can have a lot of agents at once, theres a lot of gunfire movement and decisions that need to be computed and reported a lot of times a second. its a lot to ask out of a zen 2, on top of the normal client demands.
You have written enough to make me confident you have not even tried it.
And if you are curious… put yourself in the Psykhanium and stay afk… come back 1 hour after and see if the game has closed the connection. This is the same in the solo mod…
Do that in a mission started with many more try… you will see the window about inactivity and if you don’t click ok, even in a mission, the game will close the connection.
So, since the beginning you claimed things, that you have no clue about.
Or, instead of under-communicating with your customers and playing little games, you can be upfront and honest with them so they know where things stand. If that means delivering uncomfortable news, so be it - that’s what it means to be a professional. You’ll loose some people in the short term but in the long run this is the way to build trust and confidence in your brand.
I’m definitely getting into a jaded mode again with respect to Fatshark. Havoc 1.0 had issues that people complained about and FS decided to “solve it” by going in the opposite direction from what people wanted. And then Mortis Trials that, while interesting in some respects, just doesn’t give much to the player at large.
Fatshark’s higher level decision-making apparatus is totally out of sync from what their customers want. They need a new (or any?) product manager to guide development.
