Another reason that private matches are so important

…is these damn ridiculous and non-intuitive penances.

As an example: I’ve been trying to get Cliffhanger because I really want that chest cosmetic (and the hood). I even found a guide for a good place to do it, but the kicker is you have to wait for a horde to spawn and then lure them onto a bridge. I’ve tried it twice in public lobbies now; the first time one of the randos never said a word and insisted on killing the mobs before they could crowd up, and the second time the lovely people agreed to help me with it but I got hit by a trapper and then they all went down in quick succession afterwards and it ended in a wipe.

I don’t want to keep interfering with people’s games in order to try to get this penance. I don’t want to have to keep asking “Yo can you guys just sit here and do nothing for five minutes until a horde spawns, then help me lure then onto this bridge so that I can push them off and hope that I waited long enough to get twenty?” I don’t want to keep risking wipes by putting my team into dangerous situations like that. Everyone who agreed to help is a hero and I appreciate all of you, but it shouldn’t be a requirement.

If private servers were a thing, my one actual regular teammate and I could load in by ourselves, and yes, we’d have two bots with us, but the bots are generally dumb enough that they shouldn’t get in the way of most Penances, and it would allow us to get the stupid ones without potentially throwing a game for other people.

Or they could just revise the Penance requirements… you know, whichever.

Yea

Personally i will simply refuse to do penances until they’re overhauled, right now they’re simply insulting

And i will always say no to people asking me to stand idle for 8 minutes while they try to solo a mini boss

I have many words that come to mind with these design choices, and none of them are friendly
