I cannot let you saying that…

Yesterday again, I had to play with a plasma gun on legs… And this ia terribly annoying especially when you see that bolter now don’t open shields…
Plasma infinite cleave… Is really a problem
(Revolver on vet is also a problem, but plasma is even more problematic)

I don’t use keystones cause they are too bad. But other than that, vet tree is really interesting.

Come now, you were complaining about it just as much and just as emphatically as I was at the time before they finally fixed it. I remember it distinctly, because that was the first time you and I ever found common cause on the forum.

Not referring to its current state, I’m referring to the broken-ass state it was released in, and which it largely stayed in until FatShark FINALLY fixed in their last patch before going on vacation for Christmas.

Don’t know what you mean. My position has always be the same. Vet tree, without keystones, was great. With keystones, the talent tree is still fine (but less interesting)

Tbh about veteran keystones… I fear that they will less interest me than what we have actually. I really liked veteran tree and the last talent that give a bonus to the ability.

I just hope that close combat setups won’t be ruined by such move. I loved my +30% close damage for 10s

If it is for what I have read (OP post) well, I hope I won’t be un position to have preferred keeping the actual veteran skill tree

I hope that these keystone won’t mess my preferred gameplay.

Veteran is fair. It was a strong class before, it is now a balanced one. Abilities are great. However, voice of command feel a little unimpressive (no real special effect).
Grenades are great.
At the end, we get strong template like the veteran was.

That’s my fear… The update the 21th December and 3 weeks without any fix or news… But, I fear the worst for the veteran… I can’t see how they could make keystone more reachable and not modify them to make them stronger. Last time I have lost 20% damage output cause of keystones (they reduced a lot damage bonus that were in synergy with abilities, the good point of the first veteran tree). So, now, I am anxious…

I’ll be the cynic in the room and note that in most gacha-style RNG heavy systems they of course provide a way to skip the grind by paying cash. Darktide is missing this aspect, but otherwise demonstrates a lot of gacha-mechanics.

This has been one of those weird things that has boggled my mind about DT’s crafting and itemization.

The whole thing was extensively built around this Gacha paradigm, whatever Dev managed this or C-suite ordered it was real deep into gambling mechanics design, and Fatshark spent a ton of resources building everything around that system. From Melk to Brunt and Hadron and everything in between.

And then…they didn’t close the loop. There was no frustration bypass mechanism in the form of enormous amounts of game resources or actual cash. The studio built all the parts that honk people off and make them frustrated, but then didn’t offer the relief valve.

Then they spent 2 years sitting on that thinking that was a great idea that didn’t need any change.
