Aeldari Weapon Ideas

After losing over 90% of its aeldari populace during the Battle of Iyanden (999.M41), craftworld Iyanden was left with little economic choice but to trade away many of the things the dead left behind. Under the employ of rogue traders, techpriests have collaborated with aeldari bonesingers to convert some of Iyanden’s military surplus for human use.

Iyanden Xc II Shuriken Catapult

When hip fired, the shuriken catapult is fully automatic, and its spread is mostly horizontal. When shouldered, it fires semi-automatically, and the spread behaves normally.

This weapon would fulfill an anti-horde and anti-monstrosity role, and would apply stacks of bleed.

Iyanden Xc Ia Shuriken Pistol

The shuriken pistol would work similarly to the shuriken catapult, with less range and accuracy, but more mobility and a higher critical chance.

Any other ideas or feedback?

Official Aeldari-Imperial co-operation is also a lot more frequent these days since Guilliman is… ahem… “allying” with Yvraine.

From a lore perspective it’d be weird to see such weapons in the hands of Rejects. The Rejects are scum under suspended sentence of death, they aren’t members of a Chamber Militant, they’re not even part of the Guard, and at best are the lowest officially inducted members of the private warband of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor (that type tends to frown on alien things), with no apparent connection to anything related to the Ordo Xenos. Even a Craftworld doesn’t have enough weapons to widely disperse them across the Imperium, they’d be rare and coveted weapons hoarded by well-connected interests even if many millions of such weapons were liquidated by the Eldar.

The weapons that players currently have access to isn’t really beyond what’s historically been available to basic Guard squads, and their Sergeants (who have been able to take things like powerfists and bolters). I may not be fully up to date on the latest 40k lore anymore, but are such Eldar weapons available to current Guard sergeants? I could see someone like Rannick or Zola scoring a Catapult weapon, but when the game presents the players with a cutscene making it clear that the Rejects are all using scavenged battlefield patch-jobs for weapons, it’d be hard to see where they’d be getting Shuriken weapons themselves unless the Eldar make an appearance somehow.

That said they could certainly be cool to play, Bleed stacking with a gun could be neat. Another route to take instead of Bleed might be applying stacks of Brittleness? Their tabletop effect used to be all about putting out tons of shots (with stuff like Dire Avenger Bladestorm) to cut down hordes, and fishing for 6’s to wound to ignore armor saves against bigger targets. That might be too close to existing Autogun functionality however.

we are thousands of times more likely to get an eldar mercenary pirate than we are to get eldar guns just 'cause. and they’re not even considering giving us eldar mercs.

When we hit level 30, though, aren’t we then officially inducted into Grendyl’s retinue, no longer rejects?

Even if the Ordo Hereticus isn’t as historically likely to approve of xenotech, Guilliman’s own seal of approval (explicit or implicit) on cooperating with eldar is a pretty big deal. I can imagine rogue traders showcasing the shuriken throwers to various inquisitors and using Guilliman’s situation to help convince some of them to buy.

We are the lowest Acolytes, those that are nothing more than soldiers for the true acolytes. And we’re still referred as Morrow’s Rejects

I don’t think there is any reason to do Xenos weapons (GSC excepted cause they are for the most part simply Imperial stuff they’ve nicked )

And even if it did, there are still a lot of Imperial weapons that could and should be introduced before them

Aeleari weapons are unobtainium for rejects. Same with exotic assasinorum weapons. Like the arc lash hand scythes, some variants of the needle gun but there are exceptions so we might see them (sly Marbo is the only guardsmen I know that owns a needle pistol), vindicare sniper rifles, inferno pistols, gravity weapons etc etc.

I’m afraid that implementing exotic weapons while fun would kind of hurt the setting of the game.

Let’s get Melta Guns (vet/priest), scoped hell, guns and bores, Long las , grenade launchers (vet) rocket launchers (vet)first and go from there lol.

Needle Pistols and Rifles are common though, and Sly Marbo doesn’t use a Needle pistol, it’s a Ripper Pistol (So Autogun with poisoned bullets, but not a Needle Pistol)

Heretic Cactus you should be the lead Game dev.

Thx for the correction. The ripper pistol is apparently a hybrid of sorts having some needler characteristics but it’s very much a auto gun.
