personally i am a bit of a psyker/vet main but i absolutely love explosive weapons in games and honestly it would be kinda fun if there was both at some point after patch 13 that we get at least some proper veteran grenadier weapons… like i would LOVE to get like a piglet grenade launcher style weapon or like a china lake that is similar to the ogryns grenade launcher but with the vets ammo bonus and natural pickup rate meaning you can really main weapon the grenade launcher a bit more…
I know regular guard units have rotery grenade launchers, the death korps use single shot break action ones much like the ogryn.
So I guess the differance would be volume of ammo and damage types.
I’m guessing the rotery would be your general shooter + horde clear.
While the single shot could use a differing ammo type that gives it an edge.
Unless they 1shot everything (or have relatively weak stagger) explosive weapons are absolutely terrible for horde clear. The entire team will probably hate you for using them on hordes, and for a good reason (same reason that the trauma staff used to be hated early on, when it had strong damage drop off towards the outside of the blast and threw around the trashmobs that it didn’t kill in 1 shot).
When an ogryn shoots his breach loaded grenade launcher at hordes, the group would be better off without the ogryn being there.
The explosions knock enemies around like crazy and put them on the floor, which massively reduces the kill speed of everyone else.
Additionally, the smoke from the explosion (not an issue with the Grenadier Gauntlet) blinds those who are standing nearby.
Adding to that, I want to point out the hilarious Daemon Host fender benders I witnessed ingame. I have seen entire runs ended because of a stray grenade that went where it wasn’t supposed to. And in one case it was me, underestimating the Bolter explosion ranger that set off the Daemon Host.
That said, explosions in large supply are useful for bosses, Muties and Ogryn type enemies.
fair but for one thing, it would have 6 shots and while reloading all shots would likely take some time, they still would probably not take more than a second or two to load each individual shot and they could have a fun selection of variations like most guns have with a normal impact explosive that does high dmg instantly on impact, incin grenades that wouldnt hurt allies and provide some zoning of enemies, and perhaps a lower blast radius and lower area explosive dmg sticky grenades that stick to a target and does high dmg to it that could be good for monstrosities, ogryns, and heavier big boi killing. like the vets job has basically always been high priority target killing anyways as opposed to psykers who need to play the whole field and ogryns who need to be the horde clearers and monstrosity tanks keeping them from killing allies which the new class system seems to be giving ogryns a taunt ability meaning they can really actually do that role properly finally.
very true but that is more an issue of people not knowing how to use the weapons or just being flat out careless either cause a hordes nibbling their d*ck or they just arent that good.
I agree I’d love more weapons with ammo swap features.
I think its a feature that could add allot to some underpreforming weapons in the battlefeild.
can’t forget things like shrapnel [bleed] and flashbangs.
one idea is maybe something like a rare side ammo pool you can dip into on command, requiring special harder to find ammo crates to restore.
I got 10 mags of death for the heretics.
and this one mag I save for a bad day.
Grenadier Gauntlet has between 3-5/18-40 (If we got 100% ammo)
Rumbler has 1/15-30 (If we got 100% ammo)
So if the Vet Grenade Launcher for me should be closer to the Rumbler ammo wise. Maybe being able to switch to Smoke grenades (Still deal hit damage but no AoE explosion, but block LoS for Shooters)
I like that idea, would be great and very useful, especially for making openings for zealots.
feel like a zealot would use firebased grenades thematicly
Already known to be 1 of the 3 Blitz they’ll have after the tree update
was something confirmed about a melta? im salvating if yes
It was part of the leaked weapons
Weapon wishlist from the TTRPGs:
-Ranged
- Long Las
- Hot-shot lasgun
- Stub automatic
- Hand cannon
- Combat shotgun (full-auto with a drum mag)
- Storm bolter
- Bolt pistol
- Inferno pistol
- Meltagun (kinda wonder what take they have on it, Space Marine plasma shotgun or Dawn of War plasma flamer style)
- Plasma pistol
- Crossbow (40k is famous for it’s juxtaposed low and high levels of technology and while it might be hard to make something like that work, a sanctified crossbow that deals good AP and massive damage vs monsters and daemons could have a reason to exist. The other things like bows, slings, bolas, and flintlocks might be a bit harder to make work.)
- Combi-weapons (would require underslung attachments I suppose but I’ll take it if they give it)
- Ripper pistol
- Grenade launcher (one-shot and automatic varieties)
- Missile launcher (a bit overkill but an FPS staple so why not?)
- Longshot
- Needle rifle
- Needle pistol
- Pyrophoric vambrace
- Grav pistol
- Graviton gun
- Firesprite needler
- Quillgun
- Some xenos BS. It might be heresyand it certainly wouldn’t make Hadron happy but it’d be interesting (it might have to have a different crafting gimmick since taking it to the shrine of the Omnissiah would be the most profane of heresies. I’m thinking we could buy it from the Rogue Trader’s crew; some of the voicelines speculate that she “trades” in xenos-tech)
For the ogryn
- Autocannon
- Lascannon
- Multi-las
- Heavy bolter
- Multi-melta
- Plasma cannon
- Heavy flamer
- Mortar (there are even automatic versions, lol)
- Integration cannon (mini-black hole/vacuum launcher)
-Melee
- Eviscerator (like an actual eviscerator)
- Power fist
- Power axe (just a regular one, not an omnissian axe, at least until we get a tech priest/adept)
- Chain flail
- Chain glaive
- Power flail
- Power spear
- Force Axe
- Force dagger
- Really you can have force, power, and chain versions of nearly any weapon. I’m down for all and any of them.
- Shock maul
- Shock glove
- Command baton (shock weapon)
- Shock whip (any whip would be a neat introduction. I’d like to see how they do it. They did the flail in VT2, so they’ve already done some flexible weapons.)
- Fire gauntlets
- Brazier of holy flame (flaming mace, with a limited flamer special attack)
- Electro-flail
- Ghostblade
- Graviton hammer
- Again any Xenos BS they want to throw our way. There’s a lot to pick from and with minor xenos tech they could make whatever they wanted. Dark Heresy had some funky stuff in that vein.
Ogryn
- Some two handed weapons like a monster version of the 2h hammer. They had special ogryn-size warhammers in Only War.
- Mace fists
- Power fist
Certain of those are way to rare to be featured
We’re the Inquisition. We can do whatever we want.
Well, so long as it’s what Grendyl wants us to want.
The lore justification is already there. If this were Battlefront 3: Imperial Guard Edition, you’d be absolutely right, but we have both an Inquisitor’s and a Rogue Trader’s assets and authority to call upon. The imagination is the limit in such a set-up

We’re the Inquisition. We can do whatever we want
We’re rejects, we are owned by the Inquisition, and still certain of those weapons would not be used by Acolytes and lore would make them impossible to source in the numbers we have (Ghostblades; Graviton Hammers; Graviton Guns, grav Pistols, Integration Cannon…)
As for Plasma Cannon/Heavy Flamer/Multi-Melta, while lore doesn’t say Ogryn can’t use them (and there are some lore cases where an Ogryn is armed with such weapon I’m still somewhat against it
From what I understand we are working under a pretty radical Inquisitor, who has under his thumb a Rogue trader who was done for weapon smuggling.
ngl that sounds like fatshark went “How can we have a situation where we can we put any weapon that we feel like into the players hands?”
I’d like to see more Bolter tech, given how well I think they represented the Bolter they have in game.
A nice custom Bolt pistol like Eisenhorn had, or just a meaty heavy Bolter for the Ogryn.
There’s a lot they can draw from though, even if just ‘human’ calibre weaponry. I wouldn’t really mind if there was not much variation between some of them, as it would just add flavour to your character.
Maybe they could implement a version of the ‘loot rats’, where it’s some heretical arms dealer who potentially drops temporary exotic weapons from Xenos factions etc. I mean, I’m not a big fan of Tau, but a Pulse Carbine would be fun.
