We start off as rejects, yes the average mug wont be allowed EVER need that. Considering we eventually join the ranks of agents and auric class operatives Fatshark can justify giving us allot of weird shite as they see fit.
hell they could justafy hiring kroot and orks if we just throw them at chaos to die.
We are full members of the warband by level 30, if the cutscenes are to be believed. Certainly not to the same level as Zola or Marrow but somebody has to be the boots on the ground, and the boots need guns.
We already have ānear uniqueā weapons absolutely flowing out of our ears. My psyker has dozens of force swords piled up for no more purpose than grinding blessings when each of them should be enough on the wider, open market to retire early and live a long rejuved life comfortably. So lets not get too hung up here, especially since the grav guns and ghostblades are in an even more common category.
An ogryn by default cannot use those weapons, no, but upon taking the Gun Lugger upgrade he could take a further class-unique talent that lets him use non-ogryn heavy weapons. And while he could potentially get the training for bolt and las weapons for free, there is nothing to stop him from taking further Weapon Training skills such as (Plasma), (Melta), (Flame), (Launcher) (which he would need for the launcher), or even (Exotic) in order to use something like a Grav Cannon.
Since Darktide does not actually require us to obtain any prerequisite training before equipping even quite rare and esoteric weapons, none of that should be an issue, if the devs donāt want it to be.
I didnāt mention it in the above list, but Boneāeads also had an optional upgrade to take any basic weapon as a one-handed option. So they could -after also taking the appropriate Weapon Training skill- use a regular boltgun as a pistol. Or even a storm bolter. And I think that would be pretty awesome. Iām down.
I didnāt say to have Boneāead as a class. I said itād be fun to take a boltgun or even a storm bolter as a pistol option.
But indeed, I donāt know what they will do for options that should be class-locked like a lot of the gun lugger stuff. In VT2, it was easy enough to lock it to the career but with the skill trees coming up, things will be quite different. Perhaps they can lock them to the associated ultimate instead? Or maybe have a special lesser talent that permits them? I suppose they could just make everything available to all builds regardless but then they will probably avoid the more esoteric stuff.
